Reflex Ailerons to Shorten Glide?

Does it make sense to raise the ailerons on a model to shorten the final approach? My one try at flaps created a scary, too-steep drop to the field.

Did the plane pitch down when you dropped the ailerons?
The linked thread advises some elevator mixing. Essentially, the plane needs to be retrimmed when you drop the ailerons (flaperons), and the mixing accomplishes that.
I plan to test the theory soon myself..

It was some time ago and all I remember is that it was my jockey shorts that were dropping when I hit the switch! (G) But thank you for pointing out that thread as it has a lot of useful information.
