airfoil downloads,where?
www.profili2.com
It's a freeware for basic functions and if you want to open up the advanced features it's $10US. It's worth it as there's lots of good features along with an embedded Xfoil so you can actually "wind tunnel" your creations or mods.
Another nice one is Tracfoil but it's time limited and costs something like $20 to register. Also worth it though
And then there's Dr Selig's site with more than you ever wanted to know at your finger tips....
http://www.aae.uiuc.edu/m-selig/ads/coord_database.html
And his page of links to other good stuff. Check out Airfoil1.exe...
http://www.aae.uiuc.edu/m-selig/ads.html
And finally here's a link to a cute little interactive doohicky that can teach you a lot about how Reynolds numbers, lift coefficients and drag coefficients work and what sort of range of conditions your model is actually flying in....

Enjoy.

Considering there's just so many ways to get from the leading edge to the trailing edge and have an airfoil that works, it's probably correct to presume that all the useable shapes have been tried, and are in the literature.
Designing requires a lot of math skills.
Testing requires those and mechanical skills. And $$$.
About all that can happen is generating a previously tried shape until a LOT of designing and testing has been accomplished.
Knowing the desired performance, one can find the airfoil one nees (and several like it) in the literature Bruce recommends.

Try this one too...
http://www.nasg.com/afdb/index-e.phtml
has a lot of airfoils as well as a really nice interface for browsing and comparing polars, etc.

Thanks
Got all the info i need from you guys, appreciate it.I mainly am looking for differant airfoils for differant purposes and am not going to experiment with new types(if any exist). One reason is i want to build the fastest delta i can to put a piped webra speed 50 on to see how fast a plane i can build, and another is just to understand the reason certain types work better than others.I mainly fly 3D now and am looking to expand my horizons into other types of flying.

I always flash on the guy a year or three back that was going to design a new airfoil... after someone told him what Cl meant!
.
It is difficult to find the purpose many of the airfoils in the various indexes were designed to... Martin Hepperle generally states the purpose, and since he does a lot of racing, his airfoils might be what you are looking for.

Airfoil Design Program
For an easy to use Airfoil Design Program check
out Airfoil Design Workshop. You can
import airfoils directly from a web site database then
manipulate and scale changing thickness etc. Export
the airfoil shapes as DXF files for import into your favorite
CAD program or print directly using a freeware DXF/DWG
file viewer. Software also calculate CG and designs
tapered wings.
