SD-2048 Airfoil

Does anyone know where I can download the SD-2048 airfoil. I know it is similar to the RG15(which I can find), but I am not sure of what the differences are between the two.

Thanks

Did you mean S2048?

find it on http://www.aae.uiuc.edu/m-selig/ads/coord_database.html

Search in the browser wind for s2048

Profili has both foils. They are almost identical when plotted superimposed.
s2048 1.9% camber at 56% chord 8.6% thickness at 35% chord
rg15 1.8 40 8.9 30

What type of aircraft is the S2048 intended to be used on? Is it a glider wing or something more power/stunt oriented???

Thanks,

Bob

Bob,
It is for an 80" Lancair IV. I am currently looking for a foam cutting company that can cut cores for me, so I would like to give them the airfoil in electronic format. I've attached a couple of pictures of a finished plane and one I have almost ready to paint. I am also working on a Lancair ES version with a 96" span, the test flight should be in the next two weeks or so.

Thanks for the information on the 2048. I am planning a scale model of a Cosmic Wind and was thinking about using a S8036 for the root, and S8037 for the tip.

You've done some fantastic work on that model. I'm jealous! I don't think I could make a plug like that. Mine will have to be the 'old fashioned' way of using formers and sheeting.

Really nice work. I'm just getting started in scale and my techniques could use some work. Hopefully I will get to your level some day, judging from your model...

Thanks again for the information,

Bob

For anyone who needs airfoils and ribs of the appropriate sizes, try this one: http://www.winfoil.com/
Brilliant little program at a sensible price.
You can also import airfoils from Profili and others to it.
