The basic method for a multi-panelled wing is illustrated at:

Using the process at the Etienble site, it looks like this..
There's no real need to get any more complex, for a model. |

RE: Wing CG help please
Naz, what do you mean exactly?
You want to know where the wing CG is? You want to weigh all the bits, the skins, ribs, stiffeners that go to make up the wing to find its centre of mass? what on earth for? seems a very strange request. Alasdair |
RE: Wing CG help please
Sorry guys, I just looked up the website Tall Paul quoted and realised that the question is nothing to do with CG at all. What Naz wants is to calculate the wing's Aerodynamic Centre. Nothing to do with weights or mass or gravity. Right.
I downloaded the program from the website and tried it. It didn't work at first when I left the "centre position %" box blank. I thought that was something it calculated. Eventually I realised that it wanted me to put in 25%, the usual position of the AC on the MAC. Now I get it. D'oh! Good work Tall Paul. Alasdair |
