Downthrust for motor

I am about to convert a glider to electricity. The glider is the local version of Gentle Lady, (Blue Phoenix for you swedes out there...) with two meter wing span and Clark-Y profile. Do anyone have a suggestion for suitable down-thrust in relation to the wing for the motor?

IMHO would suggest starting with 3 to 4 degrees of downthrust for a Clark Y.

Let us know how your project turns out.

And about 2 degrees of right thrust.....

You'll probably find that the model still wants to nose up with power even with 4 degrees of downthrust. This will be much more noticable if you're using a gear drive system and large efficient prop. If you trim the CG placement using the dive test procedure you'll find the nose up effect may be reduced somewhat.

Why not just look up the specs on the Goldberg Electra. ;) I think it has 5 deg down and 3 right, but its been 15 to 18 years since I built mine. (and the motor that came with it was dismally inadequate)

I'll keep you posted when things start to proceed.
