Mark,

I just ordered mine the other day through the good folks at HiFlight here in Edmonton,
Are we still expecting an end May release date?

Thank You

Mark and/or Rocco:  Awesome looking plane and I've got mine on order with HiFlight.  I did have troubles deciding [&:] between the 50cc Extra 300 and the new 50cc Ultimate as their both awesome looking planes.

Two questions:

1/  I see in the assembly manual, it states, "Placement of optional decal package shown, included decals will differ."  Can you tell me what decals will come with it. (Please say the "Extra 300" decals on the fuse and wings are part of the package !!!);

2/  Any update on delivery to the US and then to HiFlight?

Thanks for your time and keep the awesome planes coming !!!  This will be my third AW... but not my last !

Thanks for the great comments the Ultimate and Extra 300 are both great planes. The Ultimate has been very successful for us and we are sure the Extra will be the same.

As for the decals the ones pictured are additional. They are high quality decals made in the US. Visit http://www.aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=377 for more details. I wish we could include them they sure make the overall scheme come together.

The ones that are supplied are simply QB and Aeroworks decals.

Thank You

Rocco/Aeroworks

Thanks Rocco for the prompt reply and I hate to be a pain in the tail-wheel but do you have any information on when the planes can be expected to arrive in the US and then on to HiFlight in Canada?

Thanks again for your time !

The planes have left our factory in China and are expected In Stock in the US in 3 weeks.  Typically HiFlight will place their order and have it shipped within a week or two after we get them in stock.

Thank You

Are you getting the red or yellow one?

Come on Mark, you've had many weekends to put that thing through its paces for a video.

Ummm I don't know to be honest.

Either is fine, I think they both look good. I am partcial to the yellow myself, but I think the red looks pretty good too.  Flip a coin and see what happens

Has anyone started building/flying one yet? If so, how is it? Any issues? Hope to see a video on the AW website soon.

Mine shipped and I should be getting it this week. I have most of my gear. I can't wait!!!

Here's my set-up:

DLE 55
Don't know yet if I'll keep the stock muffler or buy a Pitts
5985s all around except 7955 on rudder
1 2700 mah NiMH for RX
1 2000 mah NiMH for ignition
42% Products Ignition Kill
EMS HD switches
Futaba 12FG with the r6014s

That's it! Light-weight and simple! The plane is a beauty.

It looks like there are two threads on this plane. One here and one in the 3D and Aerobatic forum. I will probably post here since it's "official".

Ferocious Frankie... Very nice. I hope you're as involved and helpful on this thread as you are (were?) on the 1.20 AW Yak forum. Your wisdom is invaluable !

I've got most everything now but still deciding what to do with the battery set-up.

I've already got...

- Tru-Turn Ultimate spinner
- DA-50
- 7955's all around w/Airwild arms
- Spectrum AR7000

I'm considering the Smart Fly Power Sport Plus with the pin & flag. This will be my first venture into this type of electrical system as my 50cc Yak is a simple two-switch system, NmHi on the ignition and a sub-C NiCd pack on the receiver (very heavy) with a Smart Fly optical kill. For the Extra, i'm thinking of going A123's so as I don't have to use regulators. As there's alot invested in this plane, I want clean, filtered, buffered and redundant power. Some say to "keep it simple" but I don't want too simple and I don't want to over do it. My concern with a Smart Fly (or any similar system) is that it's a single point of failure. If it goes, everything goes !

Any thoughts [sm=72_72.gif] ?

A123s are obviously the newest and greatest. They're great batteries and the only downside is checking voltage. If you go A123s, skip the power system, and you will be fine. The sport system would be great for a Li-ion system. The only reason I'm using NiMHs is because I'm using the same servos from the Yak (5985+7955) and I had a single 2700 mAh that gave me a good 5 flights on one charge. The ignition is fine with practically anything 1700 mAh and up. The opto kill is great.

BTW, I forgot to add that I'm using a Tru-Turn ultimate spinner also.

We will help both of us.

Too funny Frankie !!! I read your post and was in the process of typing a response to say that I was waiting for the delivery company to ring my doorbell with my 300 and guess what... My doorbell rang !!! It's here and I'm just going to go tear into the boxes [sm=teeth_smile.gif][sm=teeth_smile.gif][sm=teeth_smile.gif]

Three little letters to describe it... W-O-W !!!

First off, the packaging. It arrived in two boxes, one big and one small. The big heavy corrigated cardboard box was lined on 4 of the 6 sides with very rigid 3/16" partical board wood. Nothing would get through it in shipping. Inside that was a second huge corrigated cardboard box so now we have a two heavy boxes and wood lining. Then, inside those, everything is bubble wrapped and taped in to be secured with extra cardboard/bubble wrap around the fuse. Not a scratch or dent on anything and everything is accounted for. The build quality is amazing. They supply EVERYTHING including gas fuel line, every nut, bolt, screw, extra trim, foam, velcro straps, nylon straps and even a little wrench to adjust linkages ! The covering is amazing and I love the colours (Yellow / Blue). Even little details like the landing gear is pre-drilled to mount the gear cuffs. NO other company would take care of those little details. The cowl looks awesome too.

Now the second smaller box. It too was a heavy corrigated cardboard box lined with the same wood with yet another heavy cardboard box inside that. Then, you guessed it, more lining with 1/2" styrofoam all around and the wing panels wrapped in bubble wrap. Trust me when I say that unless a fork lift drove over these boxes, nothing's going to harm them in regular shipping. Again, the wing panels are beautiful and in perfect shape.

I have enough wood here to build a small garage to keep the plane in !!!

Can't wait to start putting it together. Should maiden it tomorrow.... NOT !!! Although it's a QB and does go together very well, I'll still be taking my time and doing some little extra's (no pun intended) that I would do on any plane (Ie: epoxy painting the engine box and firewall, sealing hinges, sealing the leading edge of the wings).

Also recieved my MTW cannister exhaust with it. Looks great.

Glad the plane was received with NO damage. We do try hard to package our planes well enough to prevent any shipping damage and have spent allot of time in design a boxing system that works. Even with all that thought and prevention it still amazes me that a fragile RC plane can make it from China to US to Canada without a scratch!

Looking forward to hearing more on your thoughts of the new Extra 300 QB

Thanks

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know I have started adding pics to the building thread in the 3D section. I will be doing a full write up as I work on the review.

I probably won't get much done until the weekend, but hey it's a quick build, I expect it in the air quickly since I have finally started to unpack it

Man you guys Im just starting 50cc and that 300LP in red white & blue is the best dam trim I have ever seen on a ARF. Im leaning real hard on that machine ,and from looking at the video it cant be all that bad. Ive been flyin a cap for a number of years and that lower wing doesnt scare me a bit...
