I joined the "Commemorative Air Force" today. I no sooner joined than I went flying in a Fairchild PT-19 trainer, (yellow and blue scheme). The temperature was about 35 degrees F and I was in the clear blue sky over the Old Olathe Naval Air Station at Gardner, (New Century) Kansas. I was at 3,000 feet and performed a couple of banking turns after a couple moments of instructions from my pilot instructor. Man, it was AWESOME!!! I have flown small planes before, I have flown in the "Show Me" B-25J, but the open cockpit of the PT-19 really hooked me. I'm going to be taking lessons soon and getting my ticket. Oh, we also did a couple of wing overs and a low strafing run of the air field. I thought I was back in in 1943. I only wish I was in a P-51 or F4U Corsair with live ammo and boggies to shoot at. Yee Haw!!!
Now I really want a real airplane, but I'll never quit flying R/C, for I love my Warbirds!
