Default I Thought This Was an RC Model Plane.......

Until I saw the dude hop in and take off[sm=what_smile.gif] I think it is a French full scale experimental aircraft called a Cri-Cri or something of that sort. Jeez, it even sounds like a giant scale model!

My apologies if this has been posted before.

I saw one at the EAA museum. Looks like a real kick! There are turbine versions flying around too.... [8D]

Wow! I've only seen pictures of it until now. I had no idea it was so aerobatic!

There are versions of that flying around with RC model turbines on them. That is putting a lot of faith in a model engine.

We had this one land at our R/C field today. It's a canard powered by a 1-cylinder Rotax...

1-Cylinder? I know Rotax has the small 277, but I thought that was a 2-cylinder. Still, it's amazing how little power some ultralights need to stay in the air.

I'm pretty sure that the pilot said that it was a 1-cyl engine (though I could have heard him wrong). I was under the same impression as you - at least 2 cylinders.

We were also commenting on how his prop (3-blade) wasn't a whole lot bigger than the ones used by some of the 1/4 and 1/3 scale guys at the club...

Maybe we could have put a Saito 2.20 on this thing and flown it!

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but regarding that canard, you might want to visit here:

http://www.wingbusters.org/PHOTOS.htm

and peek at the mov files. Check out the short field and how the Ultralight still gets off. Just to give you an idea of what the other plane is also capable of.
