I flew the Maule over to Moontown for a fly-in today and had a blast. I hooked up with a few buddies on the way and flew some formation with them in their Citabria. While at the fly-in I wound up doing some formation flying in a Yak 52 with a few fellows who are members of the Red Star Airforce. I did not find out until after the flight that I was riding with an ex-Miramar instructor...as in Top Gun. It was SWEEEETTTT. We flew some tight formation and then Yak 2 dropped to extended trail and we played follow the leader through the valleys and all sorts of rolls, loops, immelman turns and Cuban 8's. After about 30 minutes of that we broke formation and I got to play around for about another 30 minutes before we rejoined and headed back. I will post some pics when the fellows from Yak 2 send them to me.
There is a video on You-Tube of Moontown and the yaks that I was flying with today.

I was in the grey Yak with the red stripe at 01:50 doing the roll. The blue and grey one making the first pass was our wing man (Yak 2).
What a day!!!
