i saw an aircraft over my house today the like of which i've never seen before,i thought it might have been a rutan design but could find no pictures to confirm that.it was about the size of a business jet, twin engined(turboprop i think),the wings had large upswept tips,it was t-tail and the horizontal stab had large downswept tips,an odd looking thing.anyone know what it is?

If it is a twin turboprop pusher, with a forward canard horizontal stab, most likely a Piaggio Avanti P-180. Nickname is the "Flying Catfish", or "Pasta Rocket" in reference to its Italian builder. Super fast, 370kts, high flying, FL350 or higher. No T-tail, though. Rutan-ish looking, and performing!
The only thing that comes to mind in the configuration similar to your description is a Beechcraft 1900. Larger than most business aircraft, carries about 20 pax, if I remember correctly. Has all three of the attributes you mention.

the P-180 does have a t-tail though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piaggio_P180_Avanti

seen the piaggio before and it wasn't one of those, they're easy to identify just by the noise they make.looked a bit like the beech but the tips were a lot bigger on the aircraft i saw.

. Prolly the Piagio.
