Default Dave Patrick Extra 330

I just purchased a dave patrick extra 330 and purchased a ys 140 for is as the manual suggested. I hear that this motor is under powered for this model and will not hold a hover? can anyone help me out if anyone is familiar with this plane and how it performs with a ys 1.40? thanks!

My Dave Patrick 330 was my favorite plane ever. I flew mine with a Saito 2.20 and with that motor it would go straight up and never slow down. I'm not familur with any Y.S. motor as I have never owned one. Sorry. I do wish Dave Patrick had been a better business man, I would own one each of all  his designs.<div>

Hi Blake. I own a YS-91, and the YS engines are very strong! They like long props, Start with the mfgrs prop reccomendation. See how it performs. If not pulling enough, INCREASE the diameter (thus the very important swept area, and reduce the pitch a bit. It's like dropping a gear in a car. I'm sure you will get other comments from those with experience with that engine and at least a similar plane. Lee Robinson W. Palm Beach
