RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz*
Thanks alot Mike. I'm looking forward to getting my RDS... Where I ordered it, They say it should be in stock on Sat 15 Dec.
I'm sorry to keep bugging you, but you seem extremely knowledgeable on the subject, sssooooo here goes again. On the RDS8000 can you slave channels 7 or 8 to the throttle for twin engine application? and if so, can each throttle channels trim and end points be adjusted separately? and when set can the throttle trim effect both channels???? I currently fly twins with a Y harness.
Thanks again, Skip D

And I think Hobbypeople would be a better source....you know since they own Airtronics.
Don't expect to see any until Jan. at the earliest.

Hi Mike,
You never answered the question from Howard about expo and dual rate being missing in airplane mode on the 8000. This function has been missing since the Infinity era. The Stlylus is the only one with this feature now. Even the cheapest JR and Futaba systems have this feature. That is why I left Airtronics and went with JR.

You should mix ruuder --> rudder on 50% on one of the c-mix swithes.
Just set the value you want for the low rates .
Works great .
No expo on plane mode .

Just so you know, Sanwa/Airtronics NEVER published a firm date for shipping the radio. The December date that some dealers published was NEVER confirmed or announced by Airtronics. Frankly, the February date is wrong too. Sanwa wants the radio stocked here much more quickly than that.
Just so you know, the December date comes from an internal discussion about when pre-production preparation would be done (around Dec 1) and that if the final production testing of the radio would start around Dec 15. Somebody entered that date internally by mistake. Production testing is when Sanwa actually turns on production, makes 50 to 100 sets, and then tests and dissects them to ensure all of the steps of assembly go correctly. I also get one of these to do some final testing on our part to make sure we approve the radio as well. THEN then turn on production.
I will be talking to Global sales and our buyers to find out why that date was ever even entered into the system.
For those of you who are obviously anxious to get the radio (thank you for you enthusiasm!) I promise I will have final and official information about a release date as soon as I can. I could throw out my best estimate here but until Production Testing is completely done, I will not know for sure, and thus, I will NOT be posting any dates.
Regardles of any time-schedule, Sanwa/Airtronics will NOT release the radio until it has 100% passed all tests. "Schedules/Dates" interest me much less than reliability, performance, and quality. I'm sure you all would agree.

Then what would I fly with?
I guess there's always line-control....although my little 1/3 Cub might be kinda' hard to fly that way...
No, I think I'll keep it... turning in circles makes me dizzy (well.. dizzier than I already am...)

I have an Airtronics rd 8000 Good radio use it on both my gas planes. But i was looking forward to switching to the 2.4 technology and there are no other 8 channel radio out there in this group. So Do you think the radio will be avaliable buy march 2008 Spring time. I can see only one site has it. buy then several should have the radio avaliable i'm hoping.
Great information set mine at - 50 on the rudder-rudder C-mix and now i have a d/r switch for the ruddder Pretty cool. But it would be nice if they add that one little feature to the new radio. but Considering the radio does pretty much everything else, a little programming never hurts anyone helps you get to know your RD 8000 better.
looking foward to seeing the new radio hope it doesnt have the same issues i have been hearing about as the Spektrum DX7 getting locked out buy low voltage reset. Havent heard that problem happening with the futaba radios, Hope Airtronics has covered all there bases with this new technology.
Just have to wait and See.
Happy Holidays

Hey Mike, I called Hobbyclub.com today and was told that the RDSs would be available the last week of Dec or first week in Jan. What do you think? Skip D

YES, CONFIRMATION has occurred....
We performed several tests on a production quality sample. It passed and we're going into production.
First shipment will arrive early Jan (hopefully beating the AMA show) but that shipment is about all pre-sold already. (Pending rain, monsoon, or other catastrophic effect ...like an over-anxious customs agent or something...luckily it's not a child's toy, I've heard importing toys has become an incredible mess of red tape!)
Second shipment will arrive between 20 and 50 days after that. I will not have a firm date on shipment 2 for a week or so.
So there you, an official word. In the end, we still are at the mercy of the factory, shipping companies, and customs. All can affect the date and NONE of them do I control.
But I'm VERY optimistic.

Low Voltage thing...
We have not seen any low-voltage problems with the RDS8000.
As I think I've mentioned before, the RDS8000 receiver is good down to 1.8V and so far we've not experience ANY reset issue. At 1.8V the receiver is still working but even most all servos will not work. They set out to design the receiver to not be affected much by reasonable low voltage levels and so far in testing that has proven to be the case.

Options:
1. If you get kicked to voicemail, leave a message, that means the phones are overloaded. It's unusual but it can happen I think (I am not the phone expert...)
2. PM me here with your name, address, email and I'll check and get back to you.
3. Email service (You can direct the email to me if you like)
[email protected]
If that doesn't work for you, let me know here and we'll find another solution.

Great to hear Mike!!!!!!!!!!! I am or was a Futaba fan. I have a couple of old timer friends who fly the rd 8000. The feel of the radio and their comments vitually sold me. Doing an online research between the SS options, looks like the RDS is definately the one for me. As I said earlier, I already have a RDS8000 on order, and I can't wait to get it. Skip D

RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz*
I did a little checking. Turns out Verizon is aware of our phone problems and has been out doing service. In fact over the weekend they had to go into the street (well, under it) to service the lines that lead to our building! Nice time to have the phone give us problems!
Anyway, if anyone else has a phone problem when calling us, just PM me and I'll followup or email the service dept of course!
Yes we're busy, it's CHRISTMAS!!!!
Thank you to everyone for making us busy for the last 35 years!
Just so you know, I flew Futaba for years and then Hitec. There's lots of great radios in our market which makes the Challenge for Airtronics even greater!
Like you, I really enjoyed the RDS/RD8000 radio from the first time I used it. I feel "converted" as well. The new radio is light, easy to operate, the sticks feel good, and it feels "solid" in the air.
Before we had the RDS8000 2.4GHz, I was flying the regular RD8000 and was amazed and how comfortable I was with the radio from the very first flight, especially when you consider the ergonomics are totally different from my other radios.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words and as we release the RDS8000 and then later this year the new 10 channel, I hope that we continue to make Airtronics Fans "happy"!!!
