The IMAA's 2011 Rally of the Giants, hosted by the Central Indiana IMAA Chapter 48 and the Henry Co. Wright Flyers Club Chapter 651, will be held June 16th through the 18th, 2011 at the AMA National flying site in Muncie, IN.
Several important notes:
There will be TWO flight lines.
All general flying will be held at Site 3 where all 72 Mhz radios will be impounded. 2.4 Ghz radios will NOT be impounded.
All 3D flying will have a separate location at Site 4 and ONLY 2.4 Ghz radios are permitted.

Edit to add 'IMAA's' to the Rally of the Giants, since some may not be familiar with "Rally of the Giants."

This is done all of the time at the International Flying Center. Doing so means you have to have less people involved attempting to operate two impound areas.

Not sure about the distance between Site 3 and Site 4 but it is logical that if there are two flying sites within 3 miles of each other (AMA rule) that you either need a 72mhz frequency sharing agreement between the sites or one site must be 2,4G only.
None of that is new news.

The last Joe Noll was also an IMAA event where only 2.4 GHz was allowed.
The last IMAA Rally of the Giants allowed all freqs., but just had one Flight Line. Am I certain about that? Yes, because I spent TWO (2) days as a Flight Line Director there, Bomber Field, Monaville, TX, Thurs. Jun 3rd and Sat. Jun 5th, 2010.
So the IMAA Rally of the Giants is still allowing 72 MHz at this 2011 Rally of the Giants, and it is at AMA's Muncie.

The ''NEWS,'' Brad, is that there will be 72 MHz at this event. It squelches some rumors that all the future events will only allow 2.4 GHz. Well, NOT YET! [sm=47_47.gif]
