Then again you can strap a bomb to it and kick it into a crowd! And it meets the definition of aircraft!

Shhhhh.....can't divulge current projects. Suffice it to say, I'm working on "aircraft" built of balsa of course, valued at 6 figures, perhaps of the WW1 or lawn ornament style, to be released at NATS. A very elite endeavor, for the elite crowd of course.

So, if I put gas bags filled with helium or hydrogen in my plane so it weighs less than .55 pounds, do I need to register it?

Gonna? You already did, have, and been doing so! LOL

BTW an ounce of gold weighs more than an ounce of feathers, by about 10%, but a pound of feathers weighs more than a pound of gold.

So, if I have an RC dirigible that weighs less than .55 ounces, and is BLOS, does that mean I don't have to register? See where I'm going? Lighter than air drones!!!! Lets see the FAA figure that one out.

And let's not forget , a pound of poo weighs more than your pound of gold , when one considers the gravity of the stink !

They do say with every thing aboard when it takes off right?
There is another one Who weights more on the INSS International Space Station a Russian Cosmonaut or an American Astronaut? Hint Waitless

On the first question ... I would say it's a trick question because They both weigh the same, a Pound is a Pound as is an Ounce is an ounce.

HD: this thread was started over 1 year ago, and there were plenty of arguments about this very subject.

Well, gold is weighed by the Troy ounce, which is 10% heavier than a standard ounce, but a Troy pound is only 12 ounces, where a standard pound is 16 ounces.

LOL, what definition of aircraft are you using? It doesn't meet the definition accepted by ICAO.

Aircraft*. Any machine that can derive support in the atmosphere from the reactions of the air other than the reactions of the air against the earth’s surface.

I'll give U that even but we weren't speaking of gold but
we were comparing Lead to feathers. Quote "Which weighs more a pound of Lead or a Pound of feathers".And so we have 16 ounces to a pound and 128 ounces to a gallon ... Now how much does a Gallon weigh.
