I can walk into my local ATC and they know me by name. I can simply say, "Where can I fly my toy airplanes?" And they can pull out map and show me. Here you can go to 700 feet or over here you might get 1500 feet. What are you looking for?

Point is, I've established a relationship with them. They're willing to help me. I have gone forward and made contact with the local ATC/FBO.
