Default District VIII ballots

I got my ballot the day before yesterday. I know folks in New Mexico got theirs the same day. I wonder if there is anyone in District VIII who has NOT gotten their ballot already?

Please write in MY name and AMA number on the blank line to the right of the "official" candidates.

Thanks.

I have my ballot.

After reading this forum for the last few months, you can rest assured that at least two people with a box by their name will not get my vote.

OK, I'm curious, which two?

I said "at least 2", implying there might be as many as 3.

I was always told not to talk about how I voted.

I can tell you which one I won't be voting for - the incumbent.

I just came back from the SWAC. What a joke! Having been to WRAM and the Pasadena, CA shows when I lived on either coast, this pissant little garage sale at Arlington was downright embarrassing. At the other shows, I walked and walked till my feet ached and still didn't visit every isle. I can't believe that was the "largest show" a state the size of Texas could muster.

'Bout time to change top management of Dist. 8 and let's bring the show to Houston and super size it with Biggie Fries to go. If we can do the Super Bowl, I'm sure we can host a show that the RC magazines would actually want to cover.

SWAC is the sole property of Dr. H. Sanford Frank. That means folks have to convince him to move the location as he has moved the date. In the past he has not seemed very receptive to any outside thoughts that were not following his views of the world. Good luck.

That being said, I am not convinced that the location is the problem.

I was only able to attend SWAC for about an hour. I'm glad SF organized it though - this is pretty much a one man show and NOT an AMA show, from how I understand it. It would be nice to have a bigger event somewhere here in TX, but I don't think the big name vendors will attend unless they see it regularly scheduled, and with growing attendance, etc. I would think it would take 2-3 years min, with more $$$ sacrifice. I know some swapmeet sellers were mad there was very little space available, since the indoor flying thing expanded. Can't make everyone happy unfortunately.

Regardless though, I voted for someone else this weekend for District VP. Good Luck

Ron,
I pretty much agree with almost all of your assessments. It is NOT an AMA show but it is totally owned by Dr. H. Sanford Frank (AMA District VIII VP) and the location is his choice.

I was there for about 3 hours. Saw all there was to see in about 1, but wife wanted to watch the pylon race, and I wanted to see the 1905 Wright Flyer...

I have been told that if someone is too busy talking it is hard for them to hear. Maybe that is why he does that.
