I know this is really a dumb question, but.....

Is it mandatory to put your Name, address, etc., or AMA in/on your plane?

In order to be covered by AMA insurance, I believe it is required....

Really doesn't matter much, does it? I mean, individual members do not have individual policies, so what would it matter if the plane had the owner's, pilot's, or even Dave Brown's AMA number in it? Neither the owner, nor the pilot, nor Dave Brown is going to get penalized for any accident the plane may cause. The insurance will just pay out and everyone will go on their merry way.

actually, ama ins being secondary, for most folks, it does matter to whom the airplane belongs. simply for puirpose of defining who has primary responsibility.

This gives people prof that your plane done damages to person or property whether or not it was involved, All they need is the registeration, as they say name rank and sr. #

I have a card in my plane, but most of the crashes made the card unreconizable because of fuel soaking or being busted up. What if you cannot retrieve the card because it was lost in the crash? I respect the idea, I have my AMA number in three locations on both the outside and the inside of the plane.

A little tip I was given a long time ago on this item, is to remove the address label from the front of your Model Aviation magazines and stick it inside your planes. It has your AMA registered name and address and also your AMA number on it.

I use those return address stickies that come in the mail!
They work great and they now have a purpose!

Use a fine point permanent marker to write the info inside, on the wood.

Good for most, however a funny thing: some years ago, I saw this Old Time Cabin FF-for-RC for sale in a H/S. Just had to have it.

When I got it home, and dumped all the name/address stickers out of it, I must have reduced its weight by 30%. Not really, but that machine had been around for a while. Its life story would have been very interesting, or so I think. Not enough balsa to have written all those names, etc. on.

It ended with me, however the fun-times and the initial training performed by that model certainly were of significant service.
