Something you might make yourself aware of

Down in the AMA Forum there is a thread about "What happened to my Newsletter" or about that.
About the 4th post something is mentioned concerning some plans for AMA to spend a bunch of money and it ain't for your insurance protection. May I suggest you read it and if you think it's good then tell your AMA DVD. If not, also tell your DVP.
If we do not tell them, then what can you expect of them? In any case, any AMA official that complains about the cost of insurance is simply full of managed waste. [>:] Please, check that forum.

Do you mean the proposal to build another building for $6 million dollars in addition to the $12 million they spent on the current headquarters facility?
$18 million total for buildings in Muncie, IN? Would that be about 2 years of 100% of membership dues going towards buildings that less than 2% of AMA members would ever get to see in person? If that is the case I also urge everyone to check it out.
I just did a fast glance at the thread so maybe Hossfly can tell me if my summary here is an accurate rendition or not. If it is I also urge everyone to pop over to our AMA forum and voice your opinion.

Thank you Sir.
That is the topic. I was attempting to get some AMA members to become aware of something without my being guilty of double posting. Thanks for the help.

I was at that meeting. The cost of the building was mentioned and it was taken as a joke by the ED and the EC. Like 2 orders of magniture more than was expected.
If people want to make hay of it fine. I am neither an AMA apologist nor a detractor, I am just saying that I was one of the 20 or 30 people in that room and I know what I heard. No one in the EC is considering anything like that AT ALL based on what I heard.

For those of you who are not familair with Horace this is his typical post. He tries and find something to harp on the AMA about, usually out of context, includes some private e-mails and generally tries to make himself seem important. If you want to look at any of the threads he started over there you will see this trend.
Go back to the AMA forum with this nonsense Horace where it is expected and tolerated or better yet, build something and go fly it.

Anyone who is interested in what Horace is really up to just needs to check any of the threads he has started over in the AMA forum. Typically they consist of his finding some out of context or inconsequential error with the AMA, posting some personal e-mails, double talk to make him appear smarter than those he is dealing with and some self deprecating statement to appear as an innocent victim of the terrible AMA.
Horace, why don't you keep this nonsense over in the AMA forum and stop trolling over here.

Well Basin Bum maybe you should follow your own advise and stick to trolling in the ama forum. Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, Hossfly was trying to let people know where their ama dollars might be going? I was glad to see the post because I don't go to the ama forum much anymore and you are one of the reasons I don't, so unless you have something constructive to add to this thread please keep your trolling in the ama forum. I for one don't think we need to spend another 6 million on another building in Muncie and will express that to my dvp. Thanks for the heads up Hoss, a dues increase for insurance reasons is one thing but to add another building to the Muncie complex is quite another as myself and about 98 percent of the other ama members will never step foot in it.

The misrepresentation you make is beneath you. You know darn well that the HQ buildings cost about 3 million including the reconstruction that has become the museum. The National Flying Site is another issue, and one I will not attempt to defend.
You had a financial analysis done in the past, and the gentleman you had do it was certainly not deragatory of the way the AMA spends money.
You owe it to the members of RCU to be accurate in your statments, IMHO.

JR - I stand corrected. The numbers I gave were not just for the buildings alone and included flying site. It has been awhile since I looked at the figures as you know.
For those interested, the financial analysis of the AMA that JR refers to can be seen [link=http://utopia.rcuniverse.com/amafinancials.html]here[/link]:

Rockmon, I think we agree on the AMA dollars but that isn't what Horace's post was about, check out many of the threads he has started and tell me I'm wrong. I was trying to make people aware of something that might otherwise be misleading. You are entitled to your opinion about me and I make no apologies for anything I have said here or in the other forum. Having an opinion is not automatically a troll.

Mr Matt:
In our last several discourses there was a time when I was going to nominate you for President of AMA. Then you displayed that you knew absolutely nothing about the AMA membership classes or what the AMA President qualifications are.
That thread was entitled "Qualified to be AMA President??" or there abouts. Of course, since it quickly disappeared, I'm sure you have a Budd here that accommodated you. At least I don't see it anymore.
Now here you come around telling all about your attendance at an EC meeting and relating your knowledge of what was said there. I gather you have been an AMA member for some time, yet you know not what a Leader member is or what or where to find the qualifications to be an AMA officer. Therefore, I question you about how much you may have failed to retain from any conversation to which you were witness.
You further discredit yourself by speaking only of the EC meeting you attended. My post in the AMA thread concerned an email I received where the EVP wanted other information passed to me via a 3rd party. You are correct and I must say that the subject information definitely was not stated in your presence. Remember: "I received this email." Remainder is in the AMA Forum under the, "..... Newsletter" thread.
Just to add a note, I well remember when AMA published the fact they were moving from Reston in a westerly direction. I remember doing a 20 page+ dissertation on where AMA should relocate. Sure, it was filed in the circular file 13. However I did try to do something. After Muncie came into being, thousands whined that no one ever told them about what AMA was doing. Pure BS, because the whiners simply never listened to what was said. In that respect, I am simply adding to your opportunities to be informed.
As I said in the post if you like it tell the DVP or tell him if you don't.
Perhaps you and the B. Bum can just cry on each other's shoulder.

Let me try to make this simple for you. Unlike you, I have never aspired to AMA office. You made one of your MANY offhanded comments to the effect that I should run for AMA president. The personal investment in my response to you was limited to the time it took me to type it. Still, I stand by my statement.
In my humble opinion, I would make a good AMA president. I still believe that. That statement does not mean that I would ever aspire to said office. Nor would I spend my limited free time in an effort to understand the applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the acquisition of this office.
I just do not have the free time to spend fixated on the AMA. I do not have the time to ruminate about my failed attempts at campaigning for AMA office. Perhaps when I am retired, I might have achieved the qualifications required for AMA office. Perhaps I will have engendered the level of support within the membership needed to secure an office on the EC (perhaps even the office of President).
When I attended the EC meeting I referred to, it was the first time in my life I laid eyes on Doug Holland. He presented a estimated figure for the costs to build an indoor flying site. I dare say he had to be coaxed into revealing the outrageous number. The figure was met with laughter and a good bit of banter by most of the EC.
OOPS I have just realized I have typed too much...a guy like you is not worth the 5 minutes of my life just wasted on your tripe. Maybe I will forsake a steak or 2, maybe one less Cohiba, all in an attempt to regain this wasted 5 minutes.

Basin you are right I should have kept my typing fingers shut, I guess what the problem was, was the move to the club house with this that set me off. You are entitled to your opinion of Hoss but he does keep us posted on these little ama tidbits that most would not bother to look up or even think of, even if his methods of conveying such tidbits is a little questionable, but I think by now most of us have learned to read between his lines. I will now go back to taking all of this as the entertainment that it is and keep my opinions to myself and continue to read between the lines and try to extract what actual imformation I can from all of it. I realise having an opinion does not make you a troll and apologise for implying such.

Congratulations Matt:
Your Budd in the system is still covering your backside and moved the thread down to the AMA Forum out of the Clubhouse.
Your limited scope and tunnel vision will no longer be presented to a much larger number of eyes.
As the troll says, your referenced thread is NOT the one that quickly disappeared. Guess you are in the same genius boat as you place me. Surely is getting crowded down here.
So don't waste your typing time and go get that steak. It will add to your already contained like-matter.

I moved the thread in here. It went from a simple "head up" notice to an ongoing conversation. I did however leave the redirect in place in the clubhouse.
Now let's all stop the taunting and personall stuff and keep it on the ama organization. Every post spent not discussing the AMA is one less step towards improving it.

The fact is, the clubhouse members are not interested in having discussions or recieving information about the AMA. I was allowed to put a poll up in the clubhouse sometime ago. 90%, of the members voting, expressed a desire to keep us confined to the AMA discussion forum.
It's all just as it is in real life. The vast majority of the AMA membership does not care what goes on.
Banging on Matt or anyone else is counter productive. At least he took the time to attend an EC meeting when his interests were being addressed... something a very small percentage of the AMA membership as ever done.
I suppose I am just a guilty. Running off any poster that takes the time to post in the AMA forum does not produce anything positive.
It wouldn't hurt if Marc were to post more often in the AMA forum. He seems to have quite a following.

It is threads like these that turn into personal attacks that need to be closed. Where in the Hell are the moderators when they are needed? Maybe at the donut shop with the local police!
Come on people, keep your personal attacks offline and keep this forum for what it is intended...

Sorry my friend, won't happen, not in this forum. This is where you can tune into if you want play by play coverage of J R and Hossfly banging their wits sensless while the rest of us try to get a few words about the actual subject being discussed.
The moderators leave the AMA forum well alone, its not worth a lifetime of high bloodpressure and dependance on prozac.
