Default Election conspiracy?

Ok now it has been “alluded” to here in this forum and now I heard it straight out said at the field… It is believed that Bill Oberdieck’s presence in the upcoming election is a collaboration to assist Dave Brown’s re-election.

Dave Brown will get a certain percentage of the vote because he is the incumbent. Votes against Brown may very well be enough overthrow him, but not when those votes will be divided two ways.

Bill Oberdieck one of the good ole boys??

It's the commies at it again.

I would suggest that given the the number of prospective candidates that were apparently eligible, the nominating committee had no choice but to put three candidates on the ballot. I suppose you could call that a conspiracy, in that the rules favor the incumbents as you say, by splitting the challenge vote between two candidates frequently leaving the incumbent with a win by plurality. Clearly the 'ins' could change that, as by requiring a run-off when no candidate receives a majority of the vote, but are not motivated to change rules that are self-serving.
Anyway, if DB conspired to split the challenger's vote tally via manipulation to get BO on the ballot, he screwed up. There was at least one other prospective candidate that would more likely have caused a division of the vote between the challengers that would be more favorable to the incumbent. Grapevine has it that DB was opposed to his candidacy...........how does your conspiracy theory gibe with that?

Any innuendo that portrays Dave B. or Bill O. as conspiring to deceive or "water down" the vote is absurd and the source of such innuendo should be scrutinized instead or just ignored.

Simple!

Picking Oberdieck over DeCou to run is a puzzlement. It would certainly even out the vote more which would no doubt go to Brown if history is any indication. If Brown wanted to pick his successor then not running at all would probably assure Mathewson a win over Oberdieck. With DeCou in the picture with Oberdieck and Mathewson it could be a toss up whether DeCou or Mathewson would be the winner. We will probably never know what motivated the ballot choices, other than there is probably some skulduggery involved. [:'(]
