I asked last week:
What can AMA really do?
Well...they used their imagination and really came up with some great stuff.
I'm looking at what stuff and money I can give and where. It always feels good to do a direct donation, help someone directly, when you can.

IMO this is a First Class effort by the AMA, and makes me proud as a member to see the effort they are putting forth to try and help those who have lost so much, and so fast. I also want to say that it makes me proud as an American to see how Americans, and other nations have responded. On a normal day to day basis we Americans bicker and fight amongst ourselves, and sometimes seem to have an "every man for himself" attitude...... until something real bad happens to our fellow Countrymen, and then we pull together like close brothers and sisters when it really matters because our underlying bonds as fellow Americans outweights our personal politics, and biased opinions. Nice to see Americans at there best when the worst happens, and its good to know there are still heros in this crazy World.

I got a personal call from Dr. Sandy Frank today (our district VP) who asked if I needed anything because I lived in the Katrina damage area and gave me the number to the AMA hotline for assistance. Don't know him personally but he got my name/number off the AMA list. Left about a 5 minute message with all the info.
