Default Is there a CODE here?

Have you read Koranda's last message in the Nov. issue of AMA's Model Aviation? In addition to that article, I have recently reviewed over most of his other articles since his first.

While I had some contentions about the use of his "marketing AMA" I think I may have jumped the gun a bit there. I related to such as the DVD things more-so than such items as now really bringing AMA to the forefront in the magazine.

Now I still have questions; Koranda remained at the 'back-of-the-book' while such as Bob Hunt remains in the forefront almost as an AMA policy maker, and dictation of what it is time for everyone to do (p. 160, middle col.)

However the real question in my mind is this: Is there a CODE in Koranda's final message? He relates a number of challenging issues. Did he foresee the end? Was he telling us that there was far too much disarray within the AMA hierarchy for a man with vision and experience to get by individual EC/MA-staff personal goals so as to accomplish AMA Bylaws' objectives?
I think Koranda was probably used to more operational lattitude than he found at AMA. He seemed to have the problems identified, yet was refused the authority to get to the meat of those problems. That is further saddened since increasing the membership plus making people aware of the sport was frequently mentioned in his articles.

It's too bad that a man, with the problems identified, and an objective of increasing the membership had to be a salaried employee, subject to the whims of a few entrenched self-serving individuals rather than a national member-elected, hard-***** personality that is focused on those same problem areas.

Have you broken the code?

edit: spelling / wrong words plus an addition.

first part of the code that I "hear" he forgot (No, I wasn't there and I don't claim to be) was to at least be polite to co-workers and treat others with respect....

seems that was missed a bit........

could be internet rumors...... but I believe it to be more than that

"could be internet rumors... but I believe it to be more than that " Based on what?

There are a few things that are possible. Until we here from Mr Koranda, no one will ever know the truth.

The hardest thing to change in any work environment is the culture. Especially a culture that is lazy, inefficient, and mediocre.
Is that the culture at the AMA, who knows? I don't and unless you work there neither do you.

If Mr. Koranda was stonewalled by employees that feared change and refused to help accomplish goals, he may have become shall we say less than tolerent of that behavior, if that were the case, can you blame him?

Anytime you have the upper echelon of elected officials and their employees that are a bunch of firmly entrenched old chronies (no disrespect meant to you older guys, so dont take it wrong) who are satisfied with mediocrity, and content to have things just rock along like they have for years, you might as well forget about change, because it aint gonna happen... not until the VOTING MEMBERSHIP, who continues to elect these guys year after year, steps up and says enough is enough. Faced with what he has to deal with, I dont blame Koranda for leaving. When you beat your head against a wall, one of two things happens; the wall crumbles, or you get a headache and quit. The vision of where the AMA needs to be headed is totally and completely lost on the present leadership.

IMO the term co-worker denotes more of an equal status. The top BOSS, at times, just may have to be somewhat less than polite to those underlings that don't like to perform as the BOSS expects/requires. Then there is crying as, "... he was mean to me, mommy."

The top executive in an organization will have a tough time if he allows all below to be his/her "co-worker."

Thanks for that enlightenment, b.s. bum. As your picture shows, you may well be cute in some eyes, yet you still have the black nose, mouth open, tongue hanging out, and NO production. Please everyone, say 'hello' to bb, the class comedian, as such mundane trivia is his only method to garner the attention he so craves.

Funny thing is BB was my write in candidate.[X(] I personally have enjoyed his insightful wit and while I am at it BB has even been quite helpful to me. He has shared his racing tips and experience with some of the smaller planes. True RC topics not political pot stirring dare I say trolling[sm=tired.gif].

Horrace

You really make it hard to ignore your posts.

I once suggested that you would like Koranda and should call him. You responded that he could call you. Really an unfortunate attitude, in my opinion.

Tony Stillman has pretty well told you what happened with Koranda. Red gave you the sanitized version from the AMA in a post. I guess I will add some older information that I got directly from Koranda at the AMA convention back in January. I asked Koranda how it came to pass that he was ED. He said he was approached by Doug Holland. You have posted that you have some clandestine information as to where I got that information and implied it was wrong, or supplied in some nefarious manner. All you ever had to do was ask Koranda. He never ducked questions.

In that same conversation he stated that he had all the power he needed over the staff. He could have made changes at will, according to him. He also intimated that the contract he had with the AMA was for one year. That was at his choosing. You see, there was another force at play in behind the scenes that he told me about. His wife works for the feds and is stationed in DC. For that year his marriage was to be a long distance relationship. Was that the only reason he is no longer with the AMA? I don’t believe so, although I don’t know for a fact. Did it play a part? Very likely, in my opinion.

All this from talking to the guy, Horrace. No need to look for codes.

Now I will throw in my conjecture, based on nothing more than what Tony and Red posted here and the information gleaned by asking questions of the man. If his management style was going to have to change, in conjunction with his long distance relationship, it was not worth it. Again, from what I have seen, and without asking further questions, I am convinced that if Don had been willing to make a relatively minor compromise he would still be ED.

Sorry to interrupt your perusal of the space between the lines.

JR

Spoken like a true statesman, Horrace. You got MY vote, for sure!
BB is one of the good guys.
You are not.
I don't think you REALLY care about the "future of AMA."
I think you just want power and vengeance.
"Read between the lines?"
I held sprayed YOUR post with lemon juice to reveal the secret ink, then held it up to the mirror, and it said:
HORRACE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.

At least I didn't have to run for office to garner attention. Or finance my own flying field and club so I could satisfy my need to control those around me. Or proselytize my religion to assert my moral superiority. Or endlessly go on about past military service as a glorified bus driver to show how important I am.

Horace, you are nothing more than an old curmudgeon.

Well, now this is more like it! [>:] This forum certainly has gotten a tad mundane recently and here we see some life again. It's about time all the little vermin again came out of hiding and made some noise. [sm=punching.gif]

Hey JR, I didn't bother the man. I gave him an opportunity to show his stuff. He did. Whatever his reasons for packing up and pulling out are all his. From what I see now, I like to think he was standing some 1/2 dozen rungs on the ladder above those he had to bow to.

b-bum, I wasn't so aware of your jealous nature.

Thanks for the "code' message et, however I don't think so. I am glad we are a long way apart as I might think you were slipping around my cat. Every morning when he wakes me up and I let him out, he goes over about a couple hundred feet and gives birth to a .... - .. .-.. .-.. -... --- .-. -. about like you. He buries that too. [sm=lol.gif]

So for et, vicman, bb, jr, many thanks for the entertainment. Goes great with my Bud light and Nachos.

Here it is for you all:

Three dits, four dits, two dits, DA, et, vm, bb, jr, all rah rah rah.

Just a PM for all: If I were to be elected to AMA office, it would be a favor for the AMA membership and the good of the organization, and definitely NOT for my good. I offered my free services for the advancement of AMA. There will not be any more offers.

Horsefly, you're a snip. Conspiracy theories, secret messages, reading between lines no one else sees and God knows what else. I'd swear those Bud cans were laced with a little something. I've seen people spew hatred but you are top dog in that category. I'm going out to the Basin and looking up this guy Basin Bum. My kinda flyer. You too JR. Just give a day and a time and I'll be there.
Hogtied, you stay home with the bottle. We'll have the fun.

Lou,
Come on down! Bring one of your electrics and rip it up at the Basin. We even have handicapped pilot pads for those that need them (but don't tell Red). You don't even have to be an AMA member and guys like Horace can't say jack to you.

It's still the happiest place on earth and a premier flying site. Ask around and if I'm there someone will surely point me out. I can usually be found pitted in the North end. PM me and I'll let you know if I plan on being there. I've met a ton of folks from RCU and havn't gotten punched out yet.

Me too

But also, the little furry dude in his avitar may fit the profile for a good AMA canidate. He puts his nose where it doesn't belong, does a lot of yapping, comes when called unless he is pre-occupied with food or sex, spins in circles, scratches himself when he needs to scratch, digs holes to hide his treasures, is loyal and faithful to those who feed him and gives him attention, looks cute in front of the camera, and knows that good nap needs to be put before any other priority.
