All of the activities you listed below require either a licence, a fee to enter and use or in some cases property taxes to be paid. The person cannot be termed a "freeloader" because he is paying a fee for the activity.
The AMA leaders have a lot in common with big American automobile manufacturers in that most of what they offer is not what the public wants.
AMA has too many people at the helm that are trading on past laurels and trying to get new people that have little or no knowledge of the golden era of modeling to buy into an obsolete concept.
What a bunch of horse manure! With that assinine logic boating, skiing, hunting, golf, fishing, bowling, .etc… is full of freeloaders.
One more thing, the r/c aspect of AMA is just one facet of the hobby. The old saw about AMA saving the hobby is bunch of BS.

Fishing Freeloader?
IIR, a gal I knew in Wright Co, Mo kept getting offers from Fish & Game to stock her pond for free. Just as a public service they said. They made no mention of property tax, and there was no tax diff on property acres with or without ponds. So it seems they just want to give away fish to folks.... until you ask the locals what the deal is. Seems you dont need a license to fish on your own property, unless the ponds is one that has been stocked by Fish&Game.... if it had EVER been stocked by Fish&Game. So what they called a free service was just an attempt to force more folks to buy licenses till the end of time. Instead of getting free fish once, she opted to not give away her rights to free fishing, and her boyfriend had a guy dump 20 tiny catfish in her pond in trade for some horse breaking next spring.

I think you have missed the point. We are talking about non government type organizations that need support... Hmmm... Maybe it is the AMA that is the freeloader since they are the ones needing the handout
Even NON AMA flying fields require fees to fly. No matter wherever you fly, there will be taxes or permit fees paid or both AMA or not.
Your just supporting that horse manure...shame...shame...shame.
You get absolutely no points for that effort.

You get absolutely no points for that effort. Anyone caught flying RC without bowing to Muncie and praising the Great Brown Mullah should have thumbs cut off.

You get absolutely no points for that effort. You didn't mention AMA's tax-advantaged status, granted ostensibly because it is performing a service for the public good. I understand why there may some confusion over this, as AMA can't seem to settle on the wording of its Mission Statement from one montn to the next. One month it proclaims its service to 'modelers' and the next to 'its members.'
At any rate, the OP is paying for AMA if he is an American taxpayer. He is one of many that have to pay AMA's share of the tax burden because AMA is tax exempt, i.e., a freeloader needing the handout........ because they serve the public interest.......ponder that..... AMA for members-only??? Wait for the naysaying from the very same people that deride those that haven't paid homage to AMA for their very rights to live and breathe.

Thank you!Actually, I think even you [X(]could come up with a few hobbies that subsist without paying or funding an organization by each and every person that participates.
