Greetings
If I were to join today, I would get the balance of this year and next year for the $58.
Is this correct, I looked (a little) but could not find the answer.
Thanks for the info.

I THINK the AMA only does that in December. You get the first year, or part of, for full price, then they pro-rate the second year. At least, that's the way they used to do it. Why not call'em and ask?

FIRST QUARTER: If you join AMA as a first time, new member from
January 1st through March 31st, you will do so at the full, open rate.
SECOND QUARTER: If you join AMA as a first time, new member from
April 1st through June 30th, you will pay the full, open rate. The
Following year, your renewal notice will reflect a 25% reduction in dues.
THIRD QUARTER: If you join AMA from July 1st through September
30th, you will pay the full, open rate. The Following year, your
renewal notice will reflect a 50% reduction in dues.
FOURTH QUARTER: If you join AMA from October 1st through
December 31st, you will pay the full open rate. You will receive
membership for the remainder of that year, plus membership for the
following year.

Maybe youd want to join the Ama's competitor some new company in St louis. Supposedly they will insure only when they are in the majority at a new field or if a whole club decides to switch that way the ama cant force them out. I heard its founded by some big electric flight company or manufacturer .

Seems I joined mid year, and mid means $43 of $58 to the AMA.... I didnt join early enough to get a June MA, but yet I get to pay for that Full Quarter... thanx
I guess 51% = 3/4
I cant stand how in the age of computers (dont tell me they have folks looking at each new members & a calander & doing the Prorating by hand), that they cant just have the computer do a julian divide for the auto prorating to find that since I had 0.51103 years of membership in '06, I should get '07 for $58 x 0.51103
