Good to see a not so new type of flying coverage in MA.
The coverage is new to MA though. Its great there trying
to appeal to all type of flyers, I know they added Billy H.
(PROBRO #1) to the writing staff, GOOD MOVE!
I think at some fields 3D is a foul word. Whatta ya all
think about it?

I think 3-D'rs are fowl.
On a more serious note. . .
It is good to see them pursuing younger authors and updated material. Hopefully it won't replace other columns. MA should be relevant to all it's members. If this is an addition, then it's good news.

Nice to see something that's not electric!
MA should be renamed EMA![X(]

It's funny to read so many people complaining about the lack of electric coverage in MA. It seems they think that the entire magazine should be dedicated to their small segment. Just read some of the letters in MA! It's amazing. It's like they can't get any joy out of life until everyone submits.

Younger authors? Do you know how old Jim is?
They're pursuing the professional wrestling segment of society.

I wonder what class of modeler they will pursue next?

It's great to see that they presented a form of r/c modeling that's quite a bit different from what they usually show. Also that there is a large number of people that like to fly the models in the manner that they do.
It's about diversity in reporting, not just waht someone is flying. There are as many types of models, propulsions systems, and control methods as you want to think up, but displaying those ideas and designs is what's it's all about. And having FUN!
So M/A had an article about something different. Isn't that great?! That's what they're supposed to do. As far as the Pro Bros not flying electric, not true!! Those that like to chastise the magazine for not promoting more electrics need to get out of the dungeon and take a look at a good many of those profiles. Yep. electric!!

They will have a hard time finding a higher class or more thoughtful person then Jim.

I welcome the "Fresh" thinking, seems like AMA has been in a rut for sometime. This sport is about lots of diffrent interests. There a lots of aspects that I have no interest in, gliders for one......that doesn't take away from the fact they have a very real place in our sport.
Good show AMA, this is a step in the right direction.

He's young compaired to the majority of the AMA (Staff/Personnel)
AMA needs younger people with new ideas running & doing things.
Its mostly old & stale right now!!

I don't know the ages of the other regular columnists, but I would imagine there might be one or two who is a bit younger than someone in his 40s.
So far Jim's column seems to be about himself, people who work for him, and events that the people who buy his products attend. I'd like to see a bit more about... oh, maybe 3D flying?

Yup, that's what I meant. I don't mind a little shameless self-promotion. A little bit, mind you. Let's see how his next article goes. I've never heard of him writing anywhere else, so he may still be new to it. All I'm saying is that at this point I'm withholding judgment. I hope we can give him a chance before someone starts throwing tomatoes.
BTW, he's an old fart compared to me. But the closer I get to that age, the younger it is.
