Missed Opportunities

I was at the 2007 Top Gun event today THAT'S IN DISTRICT 5 MR. VICE PRESIDENT. And this is arguably THE event of the year, in the United States. Guess who was not represented? C'mon, I'll give you three guesses....How can the AMA afford to miss this boat?
There were tents representing tons of vendors, from the Great Biggies to guys you never heard of. There was No AMA tent. Why not?

Top Gun is a premier event, and very much open to the public. The Grandstands are normally full, and not necessarialy full of modellers, but you need to remember that central Florida is full of tourists, and other people who have plenty of time and lots of discretionary income. I think that the AMA missed a great opportunity here. They are represented well at other venues, so to return the question to you, P.F. Why not Top Gun???? I will be back at Lakeland today, Saturday and Sunday. I'll let you know if the situation changes.

This might be a tad off topic, but maybe not. Didn't Top Gun pretty much steel the thunder away from the AMA Nats ? Top Gun promised and delivered more prestige and prizes and became THE premier scale event in the country. That certainly must have cost the AMA , at least in credibilty. So , I wouldn't expect much of an AMA presence at Top Gun. They must grind their teeth at the thought of it.
