I got a letter today addressed to all leader members from Dave Mathewson and Jim Rice announcing a new effort to get members into the committee process. This information will also appear in the April MA for all members. If you have something to offer AMA as help in any of 21 committees, they want you to volunteer. State which committees and what you think you have to offer as expertise.

I have the same letter and as a leader member I htink this is great!!! A true members in the process attempt. This is phenominal!!! I hope those that have opinions and urge change at every turn, make every attempt to become a leader member and sign up for some sub committees.

I have been considering applying to be a Leader Member. At this point in my life I don't have the where-with-all or noteriaty to run for any position in the AMA. Previous to your post it appeared this would be the only reason to become one (Per Hoss' information). If the possibility of what you say pans out, this is reason enough for me to to persue it and I shall.

GREAT!!!! I hope you do, I love it. I will disagree that this would be the only reason to become a leader member though. I think it largely depends on your DVP and his use of the leader members. Our DVP on a regular basis works with Leader members and looks to the Leader mMembers as a pool of willing people to help the District when he needs able bodies and ideas. I have so enjoyed being a leader member and a CD, I am hopeful that in the furue I can do more.

From what I read above, it sounds like a great plan,
I'm all for getting more direct input from the members, and this sound like a good way to get some of that going.

Good for Dave & Jim <& the others> getting the word out on the commitee drive.

"Attn: MD Committee Questionaire" ? Notice anything indicating less than perfection within the address name????

I blackened the boxes by the allowed three choices for Bylaws, Election Process, and Finance Committee. Then I checked a bunch more for "interested".

Now I am waiting to see just what happens to THEIR choices for selections. Will they just select more "Yes Sir, I agree" persons or will they be looking for those types that can and will?

Interesting move on the AMA EC's part, however I don't judge the scale until I see the model. [>:]
