Default April "Bottom Feeder" ignored in June MA.

Hope I missed the apologies in the June MA reference the April editorial. Only found a couple letters in the Aero Mail section, one very complementary to the AMA side and one on the middle of the fence.

Never found anything about the comong vote on the Bylaws changes either, but haven't really examined the corners.

Council Meeting 04-18 stated, "Once the ballot is finalized Council will receive a copy for final approval prior to it being sent to Leader Members. The cover letter should note Council unanimously approved all the changes/additions. An announcement of the upcoming Bylaws vote will be made in the magazine. Counting of the ballots will be done in-house."

Maybe the Leaders will have voted before area members evn know it's happened. Yuk, Yuk, Yuk! OTOH, maybe they will just delay the vote. That should be interesting in what will actually happen reference the rush to appoint the CFO and get an EVP that is just a lackey for the EC.

[sm=idea.gif] Hey you guys can go ahead and nominate me for EVP this year. The EC would have me to kick around and Good Ol' Doug would remain the CFO. I think that would be fantastic. Only problem is my Iron A just might result in some sore toes when they kick. Hey, why don't you guys "Git 'er done?"

Oh come on Hoss, did you really think that we would. Standby, the members that think that Mr. Hahn is correct will be by to tell you why you did not get an apology. Good Luck, Dave

Oh no, not this time buster.
You find out if you are gonna be allowed to be nominated,
THEN give us the thumbs up to throw your name in a northernly direction.

HOSS,
Were you really expecting to see an apology from GH? I wasn't 'cause IMHO I don't believe he is a stand-up type of guy! Leave him in the dirt![>:]
Anyway, are you sure about this EVP BS? Sure you want that headache? Kid says wait a minute. (I respect Kid's opinionswell, on some things. He's a pretty good guy!) Anyway, if you are sure, PRESS ON!!! You got me behind you or in front or beside!

No, I certainly was not expecting any apology from the powers that be in the AMA. "Hope I missed..." was simply a kind of sarcastic tongue-in-cheek remark.

Anyway, are you sure about this EVP BS? Sure you want that headache? Kid says wait a minute. (I respect Kid's opinionswell, on some things. He's a pretty good guy!) Anyway, if you are sure, PRESS ON!!! You got me behind you or in front or beside!
If nominated, I will except the nomination. WHY?
1. ) It is against my personal principles that any candidate should be allowed to run unopposed. The voters should have some kind of choice.
IMO, That is why the AMA is in the situation that it is in. IMO, Certain employees are running personal agendas strictly to benefit themselves, especially at a later date.
The #1 item allowing such is Membership Apathy.

2. ) It will be pure fun just to see how they will react to my nomination this year. Last year the presidential ballot nominee selection result was so brazen that even I found it somewhat alarming. Unfortunately the general AMA membership has evolved into just what the hierarchy started planning for back in the mid-'80s. Uninformed, no concern, insurance members or at least 90% are.

To KE: >>>" You find out if you are gonna be allowed to be nominated, ..."<<<<

Anyone with the requirements, Adult Open Leader member can be NOMINATED by any Open adult AMA member. The Nominating Committee (the Vice Presidents) then select 3 persons for the official ballot. Trying to run on write-in is a waste of time. 85% of the membership will not even take the time to vote on a ballot.

Yes, back in 1980, I won a write-in election or reelection since I was the incumbent but my VP folks voted to keep me off the ballot for reelection. The broadcast was that I was "hard to work with." The real truth was that I was not a YES-MAN to the hierarchy. Anyway the rest is documented history.

Just got my copy today....yep another 'non-event' And yes I did write in and was asked for permission to print - which I agreed to, but maybe it was too negative (as opposed to the one 'sort-of' negative one published).

Why would he/AMA apologize?
They truly believe what they said that anyone who has anything negative to say about AMA and/or manfacturers are bottom feeders and not worthy of GH/AMA attention.
I know STL is lurking so a quick question, does your EAA hold it's members in such contempt?
And AMA wonders why it's losing members!

Hoss, if you want some more ammo, check out the Q and A session at the Joe Nall. If it's anywhere on the internet, you might be interested in it.

p.s. I tried to PM you, but oh well. I'm to busy to read these forums much, so I don't know if it's already been covered

Thanks Mr. Todd.

You have to use the email function for me. I don't take PMs anymore. Maybe I'm wrong however I think the PMs are somewhat less than private.

Email anytime.

The "bottom feeders" article

I read it several times. If the shoe fits then wear it.
If it doesn't then let it go and move on.

Roby
Whether or not the shoe fits has no bearing on the applicability of the article. There is a time and a place for everything, and this was a bad choice of what to say, and where to say it.

Let it go and move on as it would seem that an
apologie will NOT be in the near future.

It would seem that except for here in RCU the
"article" has long since been forgotten .

You couldn't be more wrong. You can say it all you want but many of us will never forget. You can only speak for yourself and apparently you haven't forgot it either...so go find a fence post.

Good luck , I sure hope you get the apologie your waiting for.

Buy a lottery ticket, you'll have a better chance at winning
a million bucks than you will getting that apologie.

If you don't get either you still can send in your 58 bucks for
next season's flying anyway. (just like you've done in the past)

Have a very nice day,
Roby

I wonder why Howard Cosell didnt use that line when he was fired for insulting folks.
Or any of the more recent media personalities resignations / suspensions over (obvious) jokes that were taken by someone somewhere as an insult?

Greg's insult want intended as a joke. It wasnt misinterpreted.
It was a direct insult, intended as such, in public media
<we do sell a handfull of MA to the public.>

Any time a politician or media personality offends a minority group,
even unintentional slights,
they have to apologize & still may get fired.

Just this week Sharon Stone decided to yammer about China deserving the earthquake due to Karma over Tibet... and now there is chinese retribution against all her (& her co-star's) films. Her mouth is hurtiing the sales of other's films because she is in them.

Many public people been fired rather than being able to simply have
offended minority parties being told to "Get Over It" with Howard Cosell's
"look at that little monkey go,"

has long since been forgotten
yeah, they ARE doing a good job of burrying it.
If they just ignore all the folks they insult, there must be nobody insulted.

Then by all means sit and wait for your apologie or the
firing. I'd suggest that you don't hold your breath.

Seems to me that the only people, (or group) offended by all this
might just be the "bottom feeders" the article refers to.

I wonder who they could be ?

Don't forget to send in your AMA dues for next year.
They'll need the money for future publications. :-)

Have a nice day.

Wrong again. Never expected an apology. Actually expected none.

Wrong again...I didn't send them any money last year and will not this year either but I am an AMA member none the less...go figure that one out genius.

So, you are wrong two out of three times...not good...the one you were right about is a shame... What a shame!

"It would seem that except for here in RCU the

Roby,
You're correct, the reason being, of course, is 90% of AMA members (see last election participation) could care less about what AMA does or says; the $58 is just another expense, like props, fuel etc.
At least the people who post on RCU have a little passion about the orgainization. Whether you agree with the posters or not at least there's a discussion going on about problems and ways of resolving them.
Too bad the percentage is not reversed, if we had 90% participation, think how great AMA could be.
Finally, I really admire your attitude. If someone werongfully accuses you of doing something wrong or calling you names, you have the ability to shrug it off like nothing happened. That being said, a lot of people here on RCU take offense when an officer of their organization accuses them of being a low life because they dare critize AMA or his benefactor, Futaba.
I hope I have the chance to meet Mr. Hahn in person, perhaps at the next WRAM show, so I can express my feelings to him directly.
One last question, I need to get some new glasses and was wondering where you bought the rose colored glasses you obviously wear.
BRG,
Jon

It comes as no surprise to me about the comments that have
posted. It's pretty much what I had expected.

At least one statement was made that I totally agree with.
That statement was about the 90% who could care less what
the AMA says or does. Perhaps ,maybe , those people are the
ones who remember that this is just a hobby and nothing more.

I 've been associated with model airplanes in one form or another
for about 55 years now. Not as long as some but considerably
longer than others. Over these years it has been a pure joy to be
associated with airplanes as a hobby. Maybe it's because I've learned
to ignor the worthless BS and the people who spread it.

The last survey I remember seeing in MA indicated that only 4%
of the membership was not satisfied with the job that AMA was doing.

I guess those must have been the bottom feeders.

I'm sure happy none of those folks are at my field.

So ,with that said , I still believe that if you feel "abused" and you
want a apologie because someone called you a bottom feeder,

Then I guess the shoe fits ,so wear it.

Some of you guys need to relax a bit . I can almost feel the tension
in your post. Remember "this is JUST a hobby" if you say that 50 times
you might feel better. If what I have posted here in any way has raised
your blood pressure.............................too bad and I could care less.

R U a 4%'r ?

Hmmm... Since you haven't ignored this thread I guess the concerns aren't BS by your qualified admission BTW I couldn’t care less what you think.

Trying to change behaviour by calling names is not very effective. Doing so reflects poor judgment on the part of someone. Maybe the AMA should pay for some of the staff to take a "how to win friends and influence people" course. I would not expect an apology. Apologizing just extends the incident into the future, and requires formal placing of blame for the incident. Neither is necessarily productive.
