I have to agree. The intent of this thread has wandered and needs to get back on track or it will be closed. Thanks Dave

Did you receive an e-mail from the AMA webmaster telling you of the official results? I wonder if everyone received that one, or just those who were vocal about the election?

Bill, AMA 4720
I got mine about 3:30 this afternoon. I suspect that they went out to anyone who has an email address on file with AMA.

Did you get one, Bill?

got mine today too, maybe because I pay my kids membership by email.
Made me very happy as it is the first time that I have voted. There has never been a time where I considered any candidate better or worse than the other. I did however think that Horrace would have been disastrous for the general well being, therefore I voted against him as opposed to voting for Mark. I am happy to see this thread as it was the first post regarding the AMA that Horrace has made, that I applaud him on. At least he had good manners.
Thanks Horrace.
Good Luck
Paul

No, but then again, I'm not one of their paid moles.

I received the results early this morning.

I too an glad that Mark won and also feel strongly that Horace would not have been a good match to the job.

I am with you Lee on that one-it is disappointing that threads get locked down because of the same individuals making statements that serve no purpose-other than personal attacks and slurs -maybe they should be banned from RCU-I am sure there will be someone think their rights have been stepped on if RCU chunks them out.

A man congratulates another man humbly-and then the discussion or rants resorts to pet projects, paid moles, eavesdropping, character of individual, and the list goes on.
I am not perfect by no means and have posted statements before that were not appropriate-but I do not log on everyday just to spew insults across a public forum.
Would these people continue these actions in person-face to face? I bet not-maybe the solution is to drop the screen names and tag lines and substitute your real name and address online. (accountability)

Anyway back to the topic-I am sure Mark Smith will do a great job and we should I am thankful that we had two great candidates to choose from.

Pot, Kettle, Color, etc

Oh, wait... there is a little snippet that isnt just sniping other posters at the end:
Anyway back to the topic-I am sure Mark Smith will do a great job and we should I am thankful that we had two great candidates to choose from.
Yes, the same individuals get threads locked with negativity against posters rather than talking on topic.
I believe the chronology would be
Bashes, Defences, Bashes, Mod Warning, Bashes, Defences, Lock.
I cant help but consider there would be a whole lot less Defences if there was less Bashing/Sniping.
Such as this defensive post. I acknoleged the new EVP without negetivity and already had to defend off the snipes of it, why would I post again after the Mod posted? PJ's post-Mod 90% snipe posting brings the defensive posts behind it. We could have skipped the whole deal if there was no snipe to defend.

This thread was a great place for folks to say good luck /best wishes to the new EVP,
but folks spent their time bashing other posters and having to slip some 11th hour negativity on the other candidate rather than be positive for the winner.

Just like last years Congratulations thread.
Nobody wants to be nice here, even my Indifferent post here was picked at by the AMAHaters to make sure we had more negativity in the thread. Well, other than Hoss of course: His OP was very nice. Good on him.

We cant even get the Chosen Ones to stop lurking long enough to give a Way To Go, or Best Wishes Good Luck.

In the great tradition of American elections, Mr.Cain has published a gracious consession statement congratulating Mark Smith on his victory. In the spirit of that tradition, one hopes for Mr. Smith to respond in kind.

Well, Hoss, I have and do use my real name. I still reserve the right to call em' as I see em'. I do not post anything here that I would not, and do not do face to face. So your point is?

Congrats to Mr. Smith, and to HC for his gracious statement.

Just as important, Congrats to all the AMA members who care enough to vote, in this, and every other election. Participation is what makes an organization live or die. apathy and negativity can only starve it.

Congratulations? Bah! Humbug! Personally, I hope that he falls flat on his face, and his pet PPP Project is soon dropped.

I understand you want to see PPP cancelled, but why on earth would you wish for him to "fall flat on his face", Bill? In the long run such would not be good for the AMA. That's called cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Horrace showed some real class with his comments here congratulating Mark on winning the election.....to his credit. It's a good example, and one that you should follow. The fact of the matter is that come the first of the year he will be EVP, and it's in the best interests of AMA for him to be effective. Your words express the sourest of sour grapes.
