Default unexplained radio interference

I was wondering, as I recently lost a plane to radio interference( suspect I was shot down purposely) Will AMA
insure my plane against unexplaned radio interference.
After all if the "CLUB" field is a AMA sanctioned field
that ought to protect you against this kind of loss,
as well as any other loss or liability. If I can be gauranteed that my equipment will be replaced in the event
of unexplained radio interference than I will gladly pay
th piper, but otherwise this is an expensive enough hobby
and Id rather go to some remote and hopefully RF free
location and take less chance of losing my hard earned
plane.

duradavie - give it a rest. Better yet, why don't you make a few more phone calls and emails to VA Beef, Loudoun Co, etc so you can blow it for the rest of us.

Default The fish is here

Dave,

* No one will insure your plane.
* There is no such thing as an RF free zone in the entire universe.

The only guarantee you have is that if you fly your plane enough, it will crash.

J_R, Unfortunately, Dave doesn't know what you are talking about.

For anyone that is not following this, read the first couple of pages of this thread

Fishstyx, you may be right. Anyone that puts a used battery in a plane, and the next day yells interference may not have a clue. I am just not real charitable when it comes to someone losing a field for others, even if it is a rogue field.

There is a big difference between "Unexplained" and "I was shot down purposely".

Have others had problems? Have the problems been limited to certain frequencies, areas of the field, times of day? How long have you been flying RC or flying that plane, that radio?

I lost a plane I had been flying for over 16 months. flew totally weird one Saturday, checked it endlessly and found nothing, flew the next Thursday 4 great flights no problem. The very next Weekend, 15 seconds into the flight it went crazy (I just kept it from going into the pit area), the crash destroyed it totally. I sent the entire radio into Airtronics. They reconnected Four (4) broken wires on the right hand control gimble. How had I flown perfectly on Thursday, done a preflight control check, with 4 wires broken off? If you dig deep enough and don't start by looking for validation of your "shot down" theory you will probably fined the reason you crashed. Of course it is also possible everyone just hates you.

AND QUIT LOOKING FOR A FREE RIDE better yet go fishing!!!!!!!!! with that radio and use the tx as a fishing pole.

I do not understand why anyone would fly at a field with known radio problems. The people that fly there state that they knew about the problem and flew anyway. This fact alone should scare the AMA. Mike K.

While the AMA will not insure you, I assume you can find an underwriter to do it but I think the premiums would be high.

Come on Duradavie, give it a rest, its over so get over it. As someone mentioned stop before you rune it for all of us. It sounds like you can't afford this hobby anyway due to the purchase of a used "unsafe" battery and the lack of AMA membership. Stop thinking about your self and think about others. From what I understand you were just as much to fault if not more anyway.

If you were smart you would't be posting your actions here on RCU, you would instead being doing your business over the phone.
