And still a Bottom Feeder

Well, here we are again. Ken is allowing the Bottom Feeder Thread to be restarted. Wonder how long until the usual suspects try to kill this one too. Hopefully they will stay over on the Children's site and leave this one alone. Yeahrite!

I guess maybe you should say what exactly your trying to accopmlish with this thread in order to keep it on track. Just a thought. How is anyone supposed to stay away from it if they don't know what to stay away from. Or why they even came here? Or is this thread only for a select few who already know they are part of it? Can you list the people who are allowed to post here and what they should be talking about? I assume AMA?

This thread has been approved to be here. It is set up as a general area to chat among the members that frequent this forum to hang out and "shoot the breeze". Here at RCU we realize that if we allow members a thread such this so they can just talk amongst each other everybody is happy about that. There are many existing threads such as this on RCU like the Sepulveda Basin thread in the plane forums and the Lunchbox Lounge thread in the car forums. The previous thread of this name unfortunately suffered from an attack from several members who felt that if they caused enough problems they would get the thread shut down. I did close that thread simply because it had gotten to the point where it would have been too much work to clean it up, but it would be easier in the long run to start a new thread. Which Bill has done now.
For all the members who frequent the AMA forum I invite you to use this thread as an area to hang out and talk amongst friends. Despite the name of the thread it is open to all members, and even Bill will tell you that he welcomes all here. However, for those members that don't like the name, for whatever reason, or don't like some of the members here let me give you this warning. If those members try again to get this thread shut down they will find themselves facing administrative actions. The same junk that got the other thread shut down will not be tolerated here. It's pretty simple, if you don't like this thread or the people here then I suggest you just move on and just ignore this thread. There is no law that says you have post here. But please know that if some decide to stir up trouble here I will take swift and certain action against those members. I truly hope that it doesn't come to that, but I will not hesitate to take action if it does happen.
I thank everybody for their cooperation here and I hope you all enjoy the thread.

Shouldnt the AMA site be a great place for children to visit?
I mean, why not have a kid friendly branch of the site to promote youth (preteen) aeromodeling?
Plenty of eFoam 'flying toy' models to get them into flying, get them started and then they can advance to better planes as they grow up.

It is very nice to see such a thread now open here at AMA. First I must be negative as I have to say something is drastically wrong in the heavens because I have to agree with RCKen and his published policy.
RCKen makes it perfectly clear in this statement:
Now such an agreement from the likes of me, may well seem suspect. I do admit that I have been a rather bad poster and certainly have tested the waters many times. In my current interests leading to a return to the CL Stunt and Scale, I have been practicing a different approach, and it seems to be working well. It appears that people of different views CAN discuss those differences and no one HAS to be the "winner".
So I think it will be nice to have a thread that just goes on and so it does vary from the OT and just keeps going. Most conversations at the flying field do that. Now if I stray, in this thread, Please say so, before Ken does. [sm=red_smile.gif]

Stick,
Very very interesting turn about on those that defend GH's use of 'bottomfeeder'.
We have heard that GH was not insulting internet posters in general, like us for example,
that only those that are (or consider themselves to be) Bottomfeeders were the target of GH's slur.
But now we see folk distressed by Sticks use of the term "outcasts & banned from RCU",
that somehow that is an insult, not just a description of those that actually are outcasts or banned.
How could it be ok for GH to use term Bottomfeeder because it only applys to bottomfeeders,
yet it is not ok for Stick to use the terms Outcasts and Banned even though it too could only apply to those that actually Outcast/Banned.
Classic double standard on their part.

K.E.,
You have to understand the source.
I consider Greg to be a good friend, but every now and then, your buddies will have something to say that was not well thought-out, and/or something that just does not come out the right way, or the way it was intended. I think that this was the case with the Bottom Feeder statement.
There are those who are not just pro AMA, or pro Greg, but rather are ready to pull the trigger on anything that is said by someone whom they consider to be their antagonist. I think that this is the case here.
Everyone thinks that they are 10 feet tall and bullet proof behind their computer screen.
I used the terms, "Outcast and Banned" because good taste and decorum prohibit using actual names here on this Forum, unlike some who dwell over on RCGroups. Quite a few of those characters have been banned from RCU, and, or are considered outcasts here. They and their fans are to whom I was making reference. They have no compunction against using someone's real and full name to attempt to cause trouble. I wouldn't use their names here, not because I don't want to cause them trouble, but just due to the fact that they are not worth the effort that would only make them more notorious on this forum.
They believe that if they attempt to cause a rift here, that they will cause someone to become embarassed. The fact is, that they are only calling attention to themselves, and their puny little children's website. Surely you have seen that dumpy place. What a joke. It fits the leadership to a T. The sad thing is that the AMA saw fit to give that Bozo an award. What a joke!

Well, since this is a "shoot the breeze" thread, I'll change direction a bit and post some pictures of the "new to me" ride that I picked up last week.
It's a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic, with only about 6K on the odometer. Cobra Speedster pipes, windshield with lowers, Pro grips, engine guard, bags, Mustang seat, sissy bar with luggage rack and pad. Fuel injected, water cooled, shaft drive. The bike is in great condition and is a joy to ride.
I've ridden off and on for 45 years, but haven't owned a bike since we had our first child. We now have 5 (and counting) grandchildren......that will give you some idea of how long it's been since I've owned. I've continued to ride, though, either on borrowed or rented machines. My wife has a cousin nearby who owns a Heritage Softail and an Electra Glide Classic and I've riden his Heritage several times. The pics below were taken while the bike was parked at the flying field on Tuesday training night this week.

Bill,
In his article GH was very clear about who he feels are bottom feeders: anyone who goes on the internet and criticizes AMA or manufacturers, in his case, Futaba.
What I find interesting is his choice of using the phrase bottom feeders instead of misguided, or shows a lack of understanding, etc.
Bottom feeder is not a common phrase and is certainly a much more forceful and has a denigrating tone than the two examples cited above. Obviously he selected the phrase carefully to emphasize his contempt to those he saw as critical of the AMA.
The article came out months ago and I’m sure GH knows the reaction it caused. His supporters have written numerous posts saying GH meant this or that, but GH has never posted anything, anywhere that I’m aware of, explaining what he meant. Therefore, I guess GH feels he doesn’t need to explain anything, as the article speaks for itself.
I’m a little surprised that AMA did not issue a disclaimer regarding the article. Again, I guess the staff agreed with the article and felt it wasn’t worth the trouble to post a disclaimer.
I’ve never met GH but I wonder if I confessed to him that I’ve gone on the net and questioned some, not all like some posters, AMA policies, if he would be man enough to call me a bottom feeder to my face. Its one thing to hide behind a key board, quite another to be face to face with someone you are putting down.
BRG,
Jon

I wonder if folks that disparage/mock/criticize the proposed Clem&Cletus community standards org
are bottomfeeders too?
If you are critical of ANYTHING over the internet,
or just AMA & Futaba?

Bob, nice bike! Be careful out there. Ron rides too. And I recall someone else races a dirt bike.
I started riding when I was young, mostly dirt bikes then street bikes. Much like yourself, I imagine for the same reasoning, I didn't ride at all when my son was growing up. When my son was 18 I bought another bike.
I've attached some pictures of my current motorcycle, a Yamaha Road Star 1800 Warrior, Vance and Hines Big Shots, Corbin seat, Speedstar intake, risers, flat bar, BreakAway cruise control, Tour Tank for touring and it's my current transportation. I'm in between cars and borrow my sons car if I need a car.
I've taken this bike on a 3.800 mile tour throughout the Western States, one of the pictures shows the bike taking in the sights of the Rocky Mountains near Yellowstone.
