Any 40 - 46 size 2 Stroke; in Club 40 Pylon racing which uses this plane; most run the Thunder Tiger Pro 40, which is more than enough power.

I've flown mine with a Supertigre GS40 to a rear exhaust .60 pattern engine on a tuned pipe! It really doesn't matter. Run what you have, or just buy a .46-55 since that will give you more options should you want to use the engine on your next plane in the future. For me, the Supertigre 40 was my favorite since it still had unlimited vertical and on the straight and level I could run full throttle all day and it wouldn't flutter the ailerons. The larger engines this was an issue.

I thought about using an O.S. 46 LA because I have been told by some not to overpower the plane. I have an O.S. 46 AX, but I'm not sure that I want to put it in this plane since the plane is so light.
I noticed that the Thunder Tiger 46 is only about $10 more than the Thunder Tiger 40 on Tower Hobbies' website?? I wonder why these 2 engines are priced so close together?
Although a 40 size might me a perfect match for this plane, perhaps buying a O.S. 46 LA would be the best option since it would be more versatile????

I have an OS FS 52s on mine . It flies very well and I plan on using it during the
winter with skis . It has lots of power with a MA 12x6 , with good vertical . I like
4 stokes in the winter especially , for the lack of oil left on the plane needing clean
up . It gets cold here in Northern Canada and oil residue gets like jelly and no fun
to clean . I also like the pin hinges the Raider comes with .

Down here in Alabama we pylon race this plane with the Thunder Tiger Pro 40 in the Club 40 class . If you guys up there ever decide to try pylon racing, just go with the Pro 40 engine and you will be set already . Check out the planes in the Club 40 section of the pylon racing threads. The pro 40 suits the plane just fine and no added weight anywhere on the plane is needed to balance it.
