That's good to know.

I wonder if they have changed anything? (I frankly don't remember anyone mentioning any real problems with the model, however.)

I flew one once. Did Ok except it needs a little power on landing due to the flat front of the cowl. It will stall quickly if slowed down too much before touchdown. At least, this one did. It was the first flight, and I don't know here he had the CG.

A friend had one with a Zenoah G20 for power, more than adequate for the airframe. The Hawk flew extremely well, no bad habits. As with any biplane some power required right to flare. Any loss of power requires a steep approach to maintain airspeed.

I had the GP Stearman PT-17 with a G23. Flight performance was very similar. Both flew very scale like with ample reserve power.

More power is required if you want all out aerobatics. I am considering 40cc in a Super Stearman to achieve that. The Hawk would be great too and there is plenty of room in the cowl.

Don't hesitate to use heavier engines like Zenoahs in these bipes as the nose weign is needed. Using lighter engines require up to a pound of lead to balance.

I've got one, and it's one of my favorites, no bad habits.
Here is an assembly (not build) thread on it. Lots of info. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_34..._1/key_/tm.htm

I was thinking a YS 140 may sound good, good low thumpy rpm with torque and give some "punch" when needed. Perhaps the Saito 1.80 glow or saito FG 30/36 gasoline. I dont like the sound of the 2 stroke nitro or gas for this plane (DL30/ Syssa or similar)

Flying mine with a Saito 180 and it's a perfect match. Plenty of power and sounds great. The only issue I recall, were the screws (4) that attached the cabaines to the fuse. They were WAY too short (3/4"). I used 1-1/4" to get a good grip. Just make sure you locate the 4 hardwood mount blocks, they are difficult to find.

This is a really neat airplane. I find it interesting yet it really doesn't fit my style. I'm a 3D pilot mostly. But this interested me the first time. I'm not sure I can resist it this time.
I may try one.
If nose weight is required maybe I'd go with a DLE30CC gas. I wonder if that would fit inside that great looking cowl?
I'm certainly keeping this one under my review.
thanks
Barry
