looking for a giant cub, telemaster
I have been approached by a guy to build and work with him on building and testing some search equipment to be carried up by a giant scale plane. This may sound far fetched but the end result will possibly be a plane to help locate a missionary that came up missing in the jungles of south america due to a full scale plane crash. I dont really have the time to build this from a kit but if I have to that is an option. I am looking for an arf in the 10ft+ range, more then likely a telemaster, cub,etc something that would be able to carry some equipment aloft and fly slowly for a search pattern probably set up for a gas motor. Anyone know of any planes that might be available that would fit this bill?
thanks

Jeff, by coincidence, a company exits called 'Aircraft Modelers Research', or AMR for short. Here is the site.
Just what you are looking for in large planes. WWW.amr-rc.com
They even have one called the 'Load Master', specifically designed to haul payloads aloft, and it is huge. Now, they need built, but builders are available if you look around.
If you can't find any here in Ohio, PM me. For a cause such as this, I'll built it for you.
PS. I would keep this in mind, a purpose built airframe will undoubtedly be stronger and more reliable than an ARF built by the Chinese kids. At best, even an ARF considered for this task should be completely stripped and every joint checked, then modified for better structural integrity, and recovered. This use is serious business, and not for the average ARF, IMO.

Just thought of another possibility. Try these guys. www.troybuiltmodels.com
They have gotten into the UAV market and may also be able to help. You may get some 'sticker shock' though.

RE: looking for a giant cub, telemaster
I will take a look at the above links. Hobby lobby has a kit that is a 12 ft telemaster that might work out but the kit isnt available till spring. I failed to mention that the missionary is presumed dead from a plane crash. From what I am told He would fly doctors and patients in and out of remote areas and he and his plane came up missing during on of these flights. The jungle areas are so thick that a ground search is totally out of the question. The guy that approached me tonight does research with uav's and he was asked to help out with coming up with the needed search electronics that could be used for locating the downed plane. I am not sure that this plane would be the actual plane that would be used for the search but more for the testing and developement of the equipment. I will post a link to the web site with the story when I get a response from my friend with the link.
