I am about ready to fly my new World Models Corsair this weekend. Has anyone flown one and tell me anything I might want to know ahead of time. Thanks

yes check the C.G. I checked mine at the World Models recomendations, and it was way off. My plane was tail heavy in a bad way. First flight was a crash waiting to happen, fortunately it didnt. I moved my engine forward, and the battery and receiver. I am running a .72 Saito 4 stroke.
I have changed my C.G. on the Corsair to about 25 percent of the wing cord, instead of around 30-33% based on W.M.
She flies real sweet now! Only other prblem are the retracts, I hope you have number 1, a high torque servo, and number 2, the throws set up just right.
I have flown mine about 10 times, will be taking it out tomorrow also. I have landed her beautifully 7 times, the other 3 times, the gear have collapsed and she bellied in and skidded down the runway. I have a JR 550 servo. I have tried many things to correct it, still no good. Will see tomorrow though
Only problem is there is only so much fiberglass on the bottom of the wings, its starting to get thin!
Drop me a line if you have any further questions, and let me know how yours fly's

Thanks for the info. I am using a JR NES-513 retract servo and the throws are as close as I can get them now.And I also fly off a grass field, great for retracts right? I am using a OS 70 surpass already broke in, I had it in a Hanger Cub a little overpowered but great five foot takeoffs. I mounted mine inverted ,how did you mount yours? Tanks again

I fly off a graded field, small pea gravel.
I have the Saito mounted sideways, with exhaust
out the bottom, 13 x 6 prop.
Hope yours fly's great this weekend, let me know.

Let me know how you first flight goes, I got a WM corsair a couple months ago and was planning on using an enya 45 but maybe that is a little to small?
Any of you guys have any other trouble putting this ARF together or maybe any tips?
Thanks
Jeff

just to let you know. Check the wind mounting dowels and even reinforce them, the wing came off on mine when doing a roll. Its a great flying plane, the retracts arent to bad, the bellcrank is a little weak. just have fun with it, good luck and ohh yes i almost forgot, if the retracts break send them to airborne and they will send you newones.

I'm very glad to read this thread since I'm buying a WM Corsair to replace another warbird. Will be using a Saito .72 and plan to start with a 13 x 6 like I had on my previous bird (WM P-40). Please continue with your experiences especially relating to the rotating retracts. I had problems with mine on the P-40 on grass, but WM claims to have upgraded their units since then.
How does it handle take-offs and landings? Any trace of snapping when full up elevator is applied from level flight? Anything else will be appreciated.

Great plane once airborne. I found take-offs challenging. Make certain it is flying before lift-off or it will go into a death roll just like the full scale one. I found the retracts an unending annoyance, and finally epoxied in fixed gear. They just didn't hold up to any landing short of greased, and I fly off tarmac with it. It sure did look cool with gear up on a low pass, however.
