Default Nemesis 1.20 -1.80 by Seagull

I considering get this model and putting a Syssa 30cc gas motor in it. With and 8o inch wing span and weighing as much as 13 LB (according to the Horizon website) I think the motor will be a good fit.

Has anyone assembled one of these, what is the quality of the ARF? How does it fly ...any bad tendencies, like snapping?

Seagull usually has very nice planes that are well built and fly well.

I've owned a few different ones

Scooterpilot,

I've looked at the same plane except, if I get one, I would make it electric with a Rimfire 1.60 running on 12S 5000 mAh packs. A friend of mine has an older Hangar 9 Sundowner with an E-Flite 1.6 in it and it would be fun chasing him around the sky with it.

Good luck with Nemesis if you decide to get it.

My mate has one with a DLE55 in it, it's fast & flys great (he clocked his doing 147MPH using GPS in a slight dive), depends what you want to do with it, but it is quite a large model & I think a 30cc may limit what you can do with her.

Hey

THanks for the comment! I appreciate it. All I have is the 30cc so it will have to do until I get my hands on a DA 60

One problem my mate has experienced, But has alot to do with his engine choice, Prop clearance, the gear is set at quite a wide stance & springs open even with a reasonably soft touch, this has meant he has gone to a smaller three bladed prop, but has also destroyed some expensive 3 bladers as well.
I fixed a similar problem with my SU26m by using some fishing trace between the gear legs with a little slack in it, this gave it a bit of give but would stop the gear opening up & bending. I did try some carbon fibre gear but it was way to stiff for the ground conditions here & had no give in it at all.

I think the Syssa 30 on a pipe would be good in this plane; the Syssa responds very favorably to tuned pipes, according to a couple different threads MTK has posted 'round here.

Still wondering how much surgery would be required to get a pipe in the belly...

Hey,

Any recommended servos for this bird? I checked the assembly manual and it doesn't recommend how many inch oz of torque is needed....?

I'm going to run the Syssa motor without the pipe.

Thanks

Don't know if you're looking for digital, but the heli guys love these: [link=http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=310425]Align DS610[/link]. They are made by Savox, and Spektrum sells them too under their name. Very fast, good torque, good price. Hitec 7985's would be good also, I would imagine. I think on a fast, 80" plane, I would be looking for 130oz/in +...

Hey

Thanks for the suggestion. With 130 oz of torque, I'll probably go with Futaba's new HV servo:

I've followed the tread on the pattern flyer's installing the Syssa motor in their platforms. Putting a pipe in this plane will be a wait and see until I get the Nemesis. Though, I do like the idea.....the motor the pipe and say a 14x14 prop....it may haul the mail. I could use no more than an 8oz tank, all in one kill switch and regulator with one battery to keep it light as possible. Could be an interesting winter project....time will tell.

Cool! Keep us posted if you get one and think a pipe will fit. It's on a dream list for me at this point, but it's fun to dream about new planes!

BME 58 with tuned pipe would be interesting. That is what I'm planing to put in my sundowner formula 1. Also hangar 9 recommended ds821. Both airplanes pretty much same.

Yowza! I know the BME is considered one of the most powerful 55-60cc motors, and lightest to boot. What prop would you spin on that? Any pics of your install yet?

I'm going to start  to install it after christmas. I'll use apc 16x16 and I hope bme will turn it over 10k rpm. which it should be 160mph. I'll post some pictures when I start the project.
