Default My newest addition to the hanger.

This is my newest addition to my hanger. I'm quite happy with how it came out. It's a Projet Trainer 50 (AKA CMPro Cessna 182 - 50) It took me 8 days to get it together. Powered by a Saito 80 with a Zinger 13 X 8 prop. AUW is 8lb 1oz. Even with the Saito I had to add 8oz up front to balance on the CG. I changed the front nose strut to an aftermarket unit with a coil spring though I intend to put a Robart Robostrut on in the future. At 8lb it still came out a little over 1lb lighter that my other CMPro 182. I'm hopeing the weather will be good in N. GA this weekend for the maiden flight.

Thank you for the compliments. I really like it, the 182 is probably my favorite airplane. It just looks so gracefull in the air. This is the 3rd Cessna I've had, the first 2 didn't fare so well. The first one was a PICA kit back in the 90's. I got it about 90% completed and never finished it, it had a Saito .91GK on it but my work kept me away from home all the time. I wound up selling my entire collection because I didn't want it to go to waste. The 2nd one was a CMPro, almost identical to this one that I traded a friend for. I crashed it on my 2nd flight because I didn't get up enough speed on take-off. I used up a 200' paved runway but waited too long to go to full throttle. It stalled and rolled over on it's back just before commiting suicide. Today looks like it will be a perfect day to fly but I've got too much to do, maybe I can get out to the field this afternoon. I'll try to get some video.

I think Saito is the sexyist 4 stroke you can get. I like OS as well, I have several of them, but you just can't beat the simplicity and good looks of a Saito.
