do you think a .53 is too much for the ss40 ?

If you are talking about the Super Stick 40 I would be concerned about the engine mount being able to fit he .53, but about power, I really don't know.

Yes, I do. A good .46 will stress it. If you use a .53, brace the tail and manage the throttle carefully.

I have a OS 46FX on mine with a tuned pipe and it flies great. I don't think a .53 will be a problem. The plane is pretty well built. BTW, I have about 300 flights on mine already.
