Ive looked around rcu and havent found alot about it i see the ignition box mounted to a engine box but not the fire wall. so any help would be nice thanks michael

I have heard of no hard rules regarding mounting an ignition unit other than be careful to protect the high voltage wire from chaff and keep it away from any metal throttle linkage that might be running back to receiver electronics.

The only issue I can think of with mounting it on the firewall is to be sure there is adequate cooling. Cooking the ignition is not a good thing. Cubs don't usually have large firewalls, you may need to consider mounting the ignition behind the firewall with an opening to allow the plug cord to come through to the spark plug. I did that type installation on a Chipmunk, and it was a happy solution. I provided foam padding for it to minimize vibration.

I have this plane with a rcg 26cc. I made a hatch on the bottom and mounted the ignition in there behind the firewall. This a great plane and engine combo. Does huge loops and nice hammerheads.
