Little Toni and Landing at 120mph!!!!
Well I have some time today and wanted to tell my story of an event that took place last October...
I had finally worked out all my bugs in the drive train of my GP little Tonie with a ST90 and pipe, just the normal stuff. Carb hold down screw coming off. (thanks again to Ram3500 for sending me one), pipe length, proper cooling, carb settings. I think I took that cowl off 50 times over the summer, but she was all fun on this particular day...
The field we went to is a private air strip and absolutely stunning, one of the prettiest fields I ever flown at... I have flown at this field a good number of times and was use to the do's and don'ts.. After ripping up the sky all day with a dozen other pilots, I decided to put in one more flight as the moon was coming up and the sun setting behind us... We still had plenty of light and the goof was all me, you won't here any excuses other then pilot error. No " motor wasn't running right, sun got in my eye, Radio lost signal, bad wind, yada yada yada. Nope, it was all ME.....
On the last high speed fly by I thought I was over the field, I had came out of a dive and was giving my friends a show. That is when the 4' tall grass reached out and grabbed my Toni, full throttle and all! I had made twenty passes easy that day, but this one I screwed up and wasn't over the field, missed it by 6 feet.. The noise it made was nothing short of Holly Crap, I actually kept working the sticks like I was still flying. it took me a couple seconds to realize what had just happened.. I did remember to cut the throttle a full five seconds after my high speed landing...lol
One of the other pilots broke the silence with " That was the coolest thing I ever seen" We laughed and went to pick up the parts...
The after pics to follow in thenext post after lunch, here are the before....

Your first post, about the airfield, is spot on. From the pictures it looks like a great place to fly.
I expected the crash damage to be a lot worse; maybe just a pile of parts held together by the covering.

Really beautiful model !
This model actually made think of buying a monoplane for the first time as I have always been a Bipe-guy. I hope you get the plane fixed ok.

Had a Q500 when I was 13, us to do full power touch and goes, with out the crashpart of course. motor was a spt .51 with fuel pressure tap from case, it was fast and yes it threw a rod a time or two.
