Default World Model P51 GS

I just bought the world model P51 GS. I read somewhere that the plane is nose heavy when finished. I plan to use an OS BGX engine which is abit heavier than the manufacturer recommended 1.60 glow.

Can somebody who has just completed the plane confirm this and advise me of how to move the equipment around to balance the plane.

I am thinking of putting the servos and batteries in the tail.

I have the latest production... the landing gear seems strong enough... is it true that the earlier production had weak landing gear and they have now strenghten them.

I used a Saito 180 and placed the elevator servos in the tail. Balanced out with battery about 3-4 inches behind the CG.

I have the latest version as well and have a Moki 2.10 in it. I mounted 2 elevator servos in the tail, put a 2700mah Nimh battery in the back as well and still had to add 5 oz. in the tail as far back as I could get when going through the wing opening. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply... how does it fly with the Moki 2.10? Isn't it too powerful for the 15 pound plane... I'm abit concern that my OS BGX is too much engine.

It flies awesome!!!!!!! No such thing as too much power for me.......It has already saved me a few times due to pilot error on my part. I'm using an APC 18x12 and I'm getting right around 125mph out of it. My buddies plane was clocked at 130mph straight and level and I'm just a bit behind him.
Most of the guys at my field all fly with the 2.10, which is partially why I went with it as well. It really is a great engine. It runs on 0% or 5% nitro--cost effective as far as glow fuel goes. I'll use a gallon a day at the field. You can usually start it by flipping the spinner. It even sounds like a gasser when you use a Pitts style muffler. Hoping to add an additional tap on my muffler and get a smoke system one of these days. should make for great low passes

I have the Miss America. I am bashing it into a modified style (Dago Red style) with the same Miss America Colors. I clipped the wings and will work on the the fuselage soon. I have several friends with this plane or the scale versions. One has the 160 fx and it pulls okay but nothing great. The others have the Moki 2.10 and the OS BGX 3500. My opinion was the Moki and BGX pull equally and with some serious authority! So I bought the BGX for mine. Gonna mount it inverted with the sportscale muffler. Glow driver and lower the tank to prevent siphoning. I also plan on servos in the back

You mentioned using a Glow Driver for your Miss America. I just bought one, a RAM 50, but the instruction said that "all current Futaba receivers are designed with a very low, white wire, signal voltage output and that for the RAM 50 to operate properly you must use an amplifier from RAM to overcome this problem."

Is that correct? It is a real pain if so because I just received my order from US and to order again is another wait. Anyway around it?

How does that Moki 2.10 fit in the cowl? Did you have to carve it up. I'm think ing of putting one in a WM GS Zero? Thanks

I've got a dumb question guys.....I need to know HOW to balance this plaine! The balancing technique that I have used would put holes through the balsa because this plane weighs about 16-17#. I have many years building and flying(and balancing, my other "heavy" plane is a bvm F-86 at a whopping 12# and balancing put small dents in the fiberglasswing) the actual balancing of a heavy plane without damaging it seems a little difficult. I have the os 160 and a smoke system with two elevator servos. Could somebody help me out with a technique that would minimize the damage with balancing?
