I was missing some of the lock nuts, and the nuts for the cross brace on the sides of the floats (the airfoil shaped brace withthe threaded end). It was pretty standard stuff, so I had some in my parts drawer.

Thanks for the reply GP , I was hoping that the hardware that was missing was along that type of lines as I have a good selection of nuts and bolts too... Were your cap screws the wrong size for the nuts in the back that hold the water rudders on ?

Well I have been fitting the spreader bars in the floats and nothing really fits well...I have had to file the hole for the spreader bar with a power saw file but just a bit...The bolt holes on top that hold it on are off too...A small power saw file fits in the spreader bar holes and you can enlarge the holes in the direction that they are off...It is not hard ,just finiky and not precision fit like most of the PA18 was....I am not bothering with the spare float...I will wait for my new one to arrive...I dont really trust the patch work sheath....The thing is it is so much easier to fit the spreader bars before they are permanently attached and that is almost the first thing you do so I need to wait for my second float before I can do anything..I am tempted to use the buggered float just so I can move forward but if I fit everything to that float it won't necessarily fit the new float...I am such an impatient guy...I guess thats one reason why ARF's are so popular...And thats why it is so anoying when you buy one and you end up needing to wait for replacement parts...Don't get me wrong I am not complaining...I am totaly happy with Horizion and their customer service...They are great...But they could do themselves a favor and hire some new quality controle people...They should not need to be replacing things as often as they are...My PA18 needed a wing and the float set needed a float...Thats expensive stuff and that drives the price up for all of us....No wonder Hanger 9 stuff is expensive..It goes along with the product support...

Sorry I have no idea, I didn't install the water rudders. They need to have the prop turning in order for them to be of any use, and if the prop is turning the normal rudder works fine in my experience. Figured I'd save the weight of the rudders, save the weight of the additional servos, and the floats are tail heavy already. Plus I'm running all digital servos and my current draw is already getting up there.

FYI I had all the same issues with the floats. They take lots of fiddling and tweaking.

Yes GP I saw your post and that helped me realize that my floats were par for the coarse..I hope others will see what we have posted and this might help them with their builds..I know what you posted helped me...Espially the part about elongating the holes..I was going to drill mine bigger then I thought of what you said about elongating them and realized that would be better...Thanks for your help...I used a small powersaw file and it worked great...Just a thought you might want to find some little bolts to plug those rudder bolt holes in the back or you will have some leaks..The thread is 4 40 they go rite thru to the inside

I silconed the holes, but that is a good idea to put a bolt in them too.

Just a heads up that the dimensions on the cross braces were way off. I found the easiest thing to do was to get the two braces the exact same length, then just adjust them both the same amount of turns until they fit. I was able to do the cross braces for the spreader bars when assembling the floats, but the other four cross braces were much easier to do once the floats were installed on the airframe. Keep everything loose until the floats are bolted to the airframe.

GP do you need to take the landing gear apart ? Or can you get away with undoing it off the plane somehow ? I havent really looked at it or tried yet...I am hoping that you can just take the brackets off the bottom of the plane with the gear still attached but I am thinking it probably has to come all apart...

I've only run about 3-4 tanks of fuel on the test stand before installing the O.S. 22 in the SC, so I don't have any real flight information on it yet. It ran pretty well on the test stand with no problems. Should turn the 17X6 or even an 18X6 prop with no problems.

As for a comparison against the other H-9 Cubs, it seems to be constructed just as well and I would anticipate it should fly just as well. My other H-9 cubs have a DLE-20 in one and a DLE-30 in another. The 30 engined cub which was stripped and re-covered with Solartex, painted and with a Fiberglass specialties Super Cub cowl on it. It also has floats. I'll attach a photo.
plane jaw i thinking about getting the os 22 too , did you use the beam mount hardware in the kit? ,have the floats too will that 22 pull it all thanks? frank (stuck on the light kit) 99
Frank,

For a motor mount for the O.S. 22, I used the DuBro #DUBG 1307 1.20 4-stroke motor-mount. Drilled and tapped for 8/32 bolts. The engine pretty much mounts to the very ends of the beam mounts. Should be plenty of power for floats and give fairly realistic flight characteristics. I put the lights on mine as well.
pj , iam playing with my 0s-22 and i never have seen a carb arm like os has on the 22. can you post a picture of your linkage hook up for the carb hook up thanks frank
I'll look for any photos I took or pull the cowl to get you some additional linkage photos Frank.

I'm really hoping to post some pics soon, just need a bigger hole on the spinner backplate and final balancing. I broke down and ordered the ez balancer lite. It's here today so ill get it balanced tonight. Supposed to be nice this weekend and I might even get a chance to fly it.

I made a Vanessa Rig...They work great and are easy to make...They are a bit of fadoinking around till you get it all figured out...The part I like is the price....And it will do planes of almost any weight...I checked my Ultra Sport and My PA18...The PA18 was a tiny bit nose heavy and the Ultra Sport was tail heavy...I only flew the Ultra Sport once because it was so hairy on landing I almost lost it...I guess because it was tail heavy....I will try it again in the spring ...I would like to try your EZ Balancer...
