First Low Wing Plane?

I am looking for my first low wing plane. Been flying for about a year, flew an ultrastick now want a low wing ARF. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking about the H9 Aresti? or maybe US Aircore Colt 40 (still have a little bounce in my landings) Are these any good?

Not sure about the Aresti, but stay away from the Aircore colt......they seem very heavy.....I've seen a couple fly and I can say that all of the other suggestions seem much better.

Don't waste your money on the Colt. Get the 4*60. I have had both of these planes. I gave the aircore plane away. It flew ok with a 46 on it but it is nowhere as good as the 4*. I have and still fly a 4*60. It is my favorite plane to fly very forgiving and it will do anything that I ask of it. Landings are also very forgiving. I like the 4* series so much that my next plane is going to be a 4*120 with a gas engine on it. Get a 4*60 you wont be sorry.

I had a Tower Voyager that was a great flying airplane. Just the covering was crappy. But with the new model coming out, I could recommend it as a easy first low winger. Lands almost by itself and will fly on your old 40 size engine from your trainer.

You can not beat the 4Star 40 or 60 .Flys great goes were you point it ,slows down and lands like a trainer.I will allways have one in my fleet for low stress flying

Sig 4* 60 is a great one. It was my first low wing 4 years ago and I still love to fly it now and then. I have a Saito 91 on it. Vetical power is unreal. Keep the control throws low and it flys like a trainer. I have about twice the throw the book says now and it will do a lot.

my first low wing Arf plane was/is a World Models Aircombat. Flies great, and floats in for smooth landings. Also makes a good first taildragger. Rolls are a little slow, even on high rates, but the elevator can pull it through the tightest loops I've seen. Even does nice knife-edge, if you use high rates on the rudder. Snaps rolls are VERY quick, I usually do 2 or 3 before I can let go of the controlls.
I would definately recommend the this plane as a first low wing plane. I use an OS .25 FX, so, It makes the plane very inexpensive too, as the ARF was only about $70-80.00 at the LHS. about the same for the motor. Also has 4 foot wingspan, so you can tote it in a small vehicle as well.

Just my $.02. I went with the Great Planes Super Sportster ARF for my second plane. Love it (been flying since early Aug.)!! Very nice to fly, easy to handle. Will do good areobatics considering it's size. I mounted a Thunder Tiger Pro .46 and it hauls the plane around the sky with ease and then some. Peace.

World Models T-34 Mentor, without a doubt! I have had both the T-34 and a 4*60 and for a second low wing plane the T-34 is much better.
The T-34 is much easier to land smoothly than the 4*60 and it has tricycle gear like most trainers making it an easier transition. I have one with an OS .46FX and it is an excellent flyer.
Lands extremely easy and can do most basic aerobatics that a 2nd plane pilot would be looking for.

I finished my Somethin Extra & Saito 72 as my first low wing plane a couple of weeks ago. I believe most would agree the SE is more 3D/Aerobatic capable than the 4Star or the Sporster so I think the SE will take me farther down the learning curve without having to upgrade to another plane. I've had no problem handling it. It flys very easily with short throws. Very easy to take-off and land. No nasty habits, but lots of room for more advanced flying with larger throws and more tail weight. Just my .02 since I've just gone through the same stage.
