Hello Gents, a bit confused here... the thread states 20 cc escapade, but I can only find the 80" Escapade

colud this bird fly with a 26cc RCGF engine or should I go for the 32cc one.

Will it fly with the 26cc? Of course. But it will be much more versatile and satisfying with the 32. 30cc planes are very popular and will be around for a long time due to their more livable size and excellent performance. By going undersize on the power you're forever on the low end as you in future put the engine into heavier or higher performance planes. The cost difference between the RCGF 26 and 32cc engines is only $30, money well spent on investing in the larger powerplant.
I have it with the 30cc AGM (DLE clone) and it flies very well. Would I buy it again in this combination? You bet

I think the 30cc is a perfect fit for this plane. I have been flying this plane with a DLE30cc for over a year and have never been disappointed in the way it flies. The DLE30 will pull it right to the moon ( ok, maybe half way) if you let it.

jw0837,
You will like this airplane. As I said before the 30cc engine will pull this aircraft around with authority. I suggest you initially use the low rate settings your first flight or two. If you are a heavy stick flier you will like the higher rates. It goes where you point it.

I finally pulled the trigger on one of these. I resisted at first when I saw the first batch released ( not having a lot of room in the hanger ) EVEN after reading about all the fun folks were having with there's
But Tower just had to mark it down for the Memorial day weekend and then Valley - View followed suit with an engine sale, well then I knew I was done for lol.
So hopefully I will get her together soon, going to see how my new RCGF 35cc RE fits in the cowl should be about the same as the DLE 35 RE.

You will like it. I don't know about others but I find it is sometimes challenging to make throttle/choke hookups on the rear exhaust engines. I am pretty much a sport flier so the 30cc works really good for me, but the 35 should satisfy all your needs no matter your flying style. Enjoy!

I've been flying mine now for about three years. Have a DLE-30 in the nose and if flies very nicely. One caveat, however. The landing gear is "typical" Great Planes...it bends easily. With a few bumps in our flying field, I had to remove the gear to re-bend it back to shape. I also have a switch on my DX-18 that will allow the flaps and ailerons to operate independently, as well as sync the flaps with ailerons for full-span aileron control. Not blinding fast roll rate, like you'd get with a double-tapered wing, but much better than standard ailerons alone.

Ken, any updates?

Ok PLANEJAW you have inspired me to try the aileron/flap tie-together for a full aileron effect. I hardly ever use flaps for take-off or landing although flaps are compensated for with elevator sync. Landings, IMO, are much smoother without flaps. Thanks for the tip.

I've got a DLE 35RA on a Great Planes Giant Super Sporster. When I was running the engine with its muffler in the backyard, it got my very tolerant neighbors attention. I heard, "hey Tom, what are you running there"? I'm not sure if that muffler does any muffling. Out at the field, it doesn't seem so bad. So if you have VERY sensitive neighbors at your field. it's going to get their attention. Otherwise, I really love the engine. Starts easy and runs great. I think it would be a great engine on that plane. Plenty of power.

Tom,
I think you misunderstood my question.......
I'm not asking about the muffler that comes with the engine. I'm asking about the after market canister muffler DLE offers here:

I'm seriously considering getting a Escapade MX 30cc. Our field is sensitive to noise so I MUST use a canister type muffler
I ask if anyone can measure the distance between the bottom of the wing joiner sleeve and the bottom of the fuselage.
I'm hoping for at least 2 1/2" to allow the 2" diameter canister muffler to fit in the fuse. It won't be easy but if I have the clearance I'm sure I can get it done!
I appreciate it very much!

She's done. 13# 12oz with DLE header and canister muffler. Flew it 2 flights today despite some stronger winds than I like. All went well. It REALLY scoots along on the Xoar 19/8 prop. Lands slow without the flap mod. Graph Tech RC carbon fiber landing gear on order should save 5-6 more ozs.
The canister tunnel is 2 3/4" square.

It just looks like such a "Great Plane", with that setup or even with a regular muffler. I have a Great Planes Giant Super Sporster with that engine, and just love it. I should add, I don't have the cowling on in my photo because I was still breaking the engine in. It's on now.
