Default Super Box Fly 20 conversion to low wing is awesome!

This was originally a high-wing trainer called a Supet Box Fly 20.
The frame is Balsa covered with thin foam which has the graphics printed on it. They were made in Japan or China back in the 80's.
i could never get it to fly very well. I actually crashed it twice nose in! I ended up just taking all of the electronics out of it and pushed it aside with some other abandoned planes that I gave up on.
Then over the winter I got bored and dreamed up an idea; take the Super Box Fly and convert it to a low wing sport plane and see what happens.
i cut out the wing opening on the bottom and reinforced it with Balsa, filled in the wing opening on the top,
extended the firewall about 1-1/2", converted it to a tail dragger, mounted micro servos in the wing and at the tail section and put a power 400 brushless in runner without a gearbox, 60 amp esc and a 3s 11.1 3200 lipo. battery.
The result? One word; AWESOME!!!!
This plane has unlimited vertical and outstanding sport performance! I had a blast flying this plane for the first time today! It flies just as good as my super sportster!
i have a few other trainers just gathering dust in the shop......maybe next winter!

Neat conversion, Hortco. How many watts is the motor? i like the adjustable motor mount... I don't think I have seen one like it. Where did you get it? Also, What size prop are you using?
It seems to me that a 60 amp esc is big for this?
I am using a 30 amp esc on my super cub and a 480 outrunner with a 9X5 prop... it seems to keep the amps under 30. I want to use a larger prop, but I need to put a watt meter on it to see exactly where I am.

I don't know how many watts the motor is-I got it with a bunch of rc stuff at an estate sale and it has no marking on it. Yes-60 amp is a bit much but it was all that I had.
The prop is a 10x6. The motor mount is available at Tower Hobbies- made by Great Planes for medium-sized electric motors but they also make them for small and large motors. It is super light weight aluminum and has a ton of adjustments. One of the best motor mounts out there!
