Default RCJETSWORLD - Yak54 30cc

Just got my 30cc Yak 54 in from RCJETSWORLD and it is a really nice kit. Very nice instruction manual with lots of pic's. The control horns are double fiberglass pieces and the hinges are robart style and pre-driiled. They just need a little epoxy. I plan on installing an EME-35 for power and cannot wait to get started. I will post some pic's of my progress.

My EME-35 just came is and it looks to be a good fit for this Yak-54. I started building last night and I got the Rudder and horizontal stab with elevators done along with both wings and ailerons. I'll post some pics tonight when I get home from work.

Here are a few pics of my process so far. I have the EME-35 installed and all of the control horns. I have installed the pin hinges on the aileron, elevator and rudder using 30 min epoxy.

Yes things are coming along just fine. I have the ailerons and elevators complete and will start working on the Rudder. This plane is built so light I am having a hard tome finding a place to install my miracle switch. It looks like the only place will be on the underside of the fuselage. I will post a few more pics tonight when I get back home.

Well it is finished and I had to add 6oz of weight to the nose to get the Yak 54 to balance at the factory recommended CG at 5" from the leading edge at the fuselage. The total weight is still only 11.5 lbs and this EME engine produces just over 20lbs of thrust so she should be a good flyer. Here are a few more pics of the finished airframe

I did the maiden yesterday and boy this is a great flying plane. I am not a 3d flyer but I had Dave at out field fly the Yak and it did everything one would expect from a Yak-54. The EME-35 was the perfect engine for this plane and with the 19x8 prop it had unlimited vertical. The plane weighs in at 11.5 lbs and the engine is producing 19lbs of thrust and it is not broken it yet. I did have a problem that accrued but it was with the fuel tank and not with the plane. I have repaired the fuel tank issue and ready to fly again. I will buy more planes from RCJETSWORLD.
