Default Yellow 30 size ARF elevator hookup

I am finishing up a 300s Yellow Aircraft that has a two rod hookup for the elevator that is connected to one wooden rod going to the servo. I am having problems getting this to line up correctly with the holes going out to the control horns. I notice a few people here have ARFs from this company and might be able help out with a better way. Also this will be my 2nd low wing plane (1st was a .40 size super sportster) and I plan on flying it later in the yr after I get a 4 star 60. I have over 35 flights on the sportster but it was a bit small for my first low wing and I thought going to the 4 star 60 arf will help in advancing my skills then I will go back to the smaller two planes. If anyone has help on the 300s both finishing it and flying, that would be great. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

You will have to bend up three wires using the supplied pushrod wire and attach them to the pushrod dowels using 30 minute epoxy and then use the supplied heat shrink material. I bend up the two wires going out to the elevator horns first as they are the tough ones, the one going to the servo is easy. Begin by cutting the exit slots in the aft fuselage. Yellow doesn't supply a pastic exit guide but you can pick up two of these at your local hobby shop. I prefer the hooded aileron exit guides from Klett Plastics as they look very neat. There is a bulkhead back there by the leading edge of the horizontal stab so don't cut into it. Bend up the two wires by using a 'Z'bend or offset in the wire so that it passes through the exit at an angle then bends back toward the horn. The two wires should be identical mirror images except one is slightly longer where it attaches to the dowel(holes in the dowel are staggered). You will have to experiment a little with the shape of the wires to make them pass through the exit slots without binding. Have patience, I buggered up a couple learning how to make them!!!
Use masking tape to tempoarily attach the wire so you can check the fit of the entire assembly in the fuselage. Now the fun part, how do you get the two wire ends out the exit slots?. Easy, purchase a Sullivan Gold'N'Rod at the hobby shop and use the yellow inner tube as a chase, it will screw down onto the threads on the pushrod wire and you can pull the pushrod through the slot. You will need to cut two pieces of Gold.N.Rod about 2 feet long each and feed them through the exit slot and push them forward into the servo compartment. Screw the Gold'N'Rods onto each pushrod wire and pull the wires out through the exit slots as you retract the Gold'N'Rods.
Now you can Remove the Gold'N'Rods and screw on the clevis on each wire. The front wire going to servo arm is a simple straight piece with a single 90 degree bend where it inserts into the dowel. As far as flying this aircraft, it lands like a trainer, gentle stall and very stable, you shouldn't have any problems.

Try this web site, it is a tech note to make the split elevator pushrods for the 40 size Greatplanes Extra 300. It shows a full size drawing of the finished wires, should be very close to what you need for your Extra.
