Just bought this combo airplane and engine recently. Finally started to assemble this plane, and the rear wrap around muffler doesnt even come close to clearing the firewall, as they suggest to in the included instructions. Anyone have this combo? As it sets looks like the bottom of the firewall will have to be severely cut back to clear the muffler, considering the engine can be spaced out just so far to fit in the cowling.
I guess the other alternative would be to extend the engine out further, and then extend the cowlings mounting points too. Hate to have the engine sitting too far, due to vibration.

I guess that is a thought. I wasnt sure there was any aftermarket mufflers, but bison does apparently make one like you suggest for like $70.00. One of the key selling points on the OS is they claim their stock muffler is it quieter than many other engines out there. Honestly great planes touts this power plant, airframe combo, but they dont show any reference for it the manual. Really dis appointed this doesnt just fit.

I had the GT 33 and bought the plane. I could see the match-up was a mess and sold the 33 and bought a DLE 35 ra and never looked back. Ya, Tower touts the OS GT 33 as the engine for the Escapade, its a great quiet and powerful engine, just has the muffler hang-up! You will have to do a lot of chopping to make it fit!
If it's still in the box try and send it back..............the DLA fits very nicely.
