Default Dave Patrick Ultimate revival..

Hey everyone,

I recently became the new owner of a Dave Patrick Ultimate ARF from the late '90s. It has a YS 1.40 in it that is pumped/ Supercharged and is a beast for power. I just maidened it today and she flies great! Roll rate is scary fast!! I will definitely need to use some Expo to tone it down! Motor purrs nicely at idle and becomes a lion at power! I did some slight modifications including painting/ installing pilot, instrument panel, and painting the prop the resemble the MT Props of full scale aerobatic planes. Here's some pics :

Future upgrades for next winter will include a full teardown, inspection, engine overhaul, and recover with new color way. I'd like to go with 3-blade carbon fiber with CF spinner in black, rework the landing gear to be more scale like, (they should have a rearward cant).

Who else has one of these? Please share with pics!!

Nice, I had one back in 2000 with an OS 108 in it.Flew well but could have used more power. I haven't had a bipe since then. Got the urge to have one about a year ago and found this Reed Falcon kit. It's been a long build due to having to make molds for the cowl, wheel pants and canopy. Looks close to 9lbs with a YS 140 DZ.

hey guys need a little help. Recently purchased a D.P. ultimte 40 but she needs a little work....my biggest obstacle is it is missing the top wing cabane mount and the interplane struts. I have looked online with no luck, if anyone knows how to get in touch with D.P models or Cermark it would be awesome. Another thought I had is would the Great Plane replacement parts work ? Any help would be great.
Thanks Ron

I have a D.P. Ultimate that I inherited from my late dad. It hasn't been flown in a few years but is just dusty.
it has a YS1.20 on it right now but I'm considering a gas engine.
Im very experienced with glow and electric but a neophyte to gasoline. I'm wondering what might be a suitable power plant.
DLE 30 perhaps?

I could sure use a couple of those cowls. You wouldn't be interested in selling a pair of them would you ?

Shawn,

I've been trying to PM you my address but it doesn't seem to be working so I thought I'd try it this way.

Dear Mfight43,
I have just acquired the big Dave Patrick Ultimate, here in Colorado Springs.
It needs Landing Gear, panties & the two outboard wing struts.
Is it possible to sweet talk you into tracing out one of your wing struts for me so I can recreate two new struts? I could also use the landing gear height & wheel pant lengths so as to start rounding those up too.

Thanks

Very nice....I purchased the 40 size of this ARF last year. It needs the upper wing mount remade since its gone and no interplane struts. Other than that it looks good. Might do a build thread on it.

I bought one 10 years ago. Got out of the hobby, but never sold the plane.
Does anyone have the manual for the plane? I need cg, recommended throws, and just general info. I have to review it before I fly it. It has lead on the engine mount... goofy. I will change engine mount, and need offset/ thrust angle, etc.
Any help is appreciated.
I need to go through it, battery pack (I think a 2000Mah LiFe) and spectrum receiver. It has 7 total, 4 in wings. The wing servos have been tied together (upper and lower), so which receiver do I need.
Did mention I have been out of the hobby for quite a few years.
I bought a new Spectrum DX8 black.

If you have been out of the hobby for a number of years, I hope you have something a bit tamer to start with before flying this bipe!

Sorry all, I neglected to update my status , Unfortunately I lost the plane in a stall spin aerobatics practice session and pancaked it into the ground. Total loss. I pushed it too far. I look forward to acquiring another Ultimate some day. (second pic was taken during the stall and then snap)
