Default What size gas engine?

Hello everyone. I was just given a brand new super Stearman, and I have a question. I'm going gas with this, and was wondering what size engine would both be the best fit, and would have good power for this plane? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Before making any suggestions, more information may be required. For instance, what is the wingspan, weight, and manufacturer of your Stearman ?

Great planes super stearman, 71, 69 in. Wing spans, and I believe 12 lbs.

I had a Zenoah G-26 in mine. I felt that it had plenty of power.

That plane will be pretty happy with anything from 20-35cc's in it. From there, it's mostly about what you expect from the plane. Will it be flown in a sedate scale like way with an occasional loop or roll, or something that's going to push it's full capabilities?

Would a rear exhaust work on this? I tend to use them because it looks better and is easier to route the exhaust out of the cowl. I know I used one on a P47 thunderbolt and it put the prop at exactly the right distance from the firewall. Sorry about all the questions, but someone gave me 4 arfs still in the box and I'm building one and planning for another and haven't had this one out of the box to do any measurements! Lol.

Oh, and im not really an aerobatic flyer. I fly scale, with a occasional stunt thrown in. I just love to see them fly! I could just as easily sit and watch others fly as do it myself. Ive been doing this for 7 years now, and still see the wonder and excitement of a child seeing it for the first time!! Love this hobby

Rear exhaust engines are the plan for anything I'm buying in the future. They're generally a much more compact install, with less chance of having to hack up a cowl.

Of course, with a cowl the size of a Stearman's, you have a LOT of real estate in there. Minimal cutting any way you go.

A friend had that plane with an OS 160 glow, lot's of power. Think he swapped it out for a DLA 30 cc? He likes lot's of power and haven't heard any complaints.
