Phoenix Models

I've owned several Phoenix Models planes over the last decade and the older planes always had canopy trip strips turn into a gummy mess after a few years. I was going to try to find some sort of sealer for my new PC-9 that I just received but I see that the trim strip seems to melted on. Anyone have any comments as to whether the new trim strips they are using need to be sealed?

My PC9 is an older one from Seagull and the canopy was removed to paint it. I glued the canopy on with RC56 and retaped the perimeter with 1/2" red plastic tape and it still let go on the exhaust side of the plane.
I tried a couple times to clean and rebond but gave up and just ran a length of red Scotch brand clear down that one side for a better seal after thorough cleaning with alcohol.
This problem doesn't occur on my Monokote covered airplanes.
